Crime Story

Inspector Louis arrived at about 9:00 pm. He was a tall man with a big black mustache.
Ashley and Liam were in the living room when the inspector came in. “Mr. Smith died
between midnight last night and 7 o’clock this morning” he said “somebody in this room
killed him” he looked at them one by one but no one spoke. Mrs. Smith I want to talk to
you first, please come into the library with me. Ashley Smith followed the inspector into
the library and they sat down.

Inspector: What did your husband do after dinner last night?

Mrs.Smith: When we finished dinner, Brian said he was tired and he went to bed.
Inspector: Did you go to bed then?
Mrs. Smith: No I didn’t, I went for a walk in the garden.
Inspector: What time did you go to bed?
Mrs. Smith: About a quarter to twelve.
Inspector: Was your husband asleep?
Mrs. Smith: I don’t know, inspector. We slept in separate rooms but I saw that his door
was closed.
Inspector: Did you hear anything when you were in your room?
Mrs. Smith: Yes, I heard Brian’s bedroom door, It opened. I think it was Brian. Then it
closed again. I read in bed for half an hour and then went to sleep.
Inspector: What time did you get up this morning?
Mrs. Smith: I got up at about 7: 15 am. I had breakfast and then at 8:00 I took my
husband a cup of tea. I found him in bed, he was dead.
Inspector: Tell me Mrs. Smith, did you love your husband?
Mrs. Smith: Brian was a very difficult man.
Inspector: But did you love him?
Mrs. Smith: I….. I hated him.
