Integrity is the quality of having strong ethical principles that one should demonstrate on a daily bases whether on the job or day-to-day operation. A person with integrity are honest, truthful, and show consistence. When trying to make changes to a situation, a person with integrity have the ability to an impact people that are involved because of their actions that are shown on a daily bases and not when they are seen. It would be impossible for someone how are dishonest, unethical, and incompetent to address changes and expect others to not resist due to their actions. Integrity goes a long way; people tend to respect and open for suggestions for people who exercise these principles.
2. The articulation of a clear vision and mission
This would be the second method that would help those who resist changing. Leaders have to make sure when having decisions about changes, he or she will have a clear vision of why it needs to take place and make sure the changes are in line with the mission of the school or business. If leader provide a clear vision with evidence, staff or employees will be open to listen and adjust to changes.
3. The use of data-based decision making
Data-based decision making can also play a major role in making changes especially if the leader or principal provides a break down about the changes and the effect it will have to improve the issues. Informative data with pros and cons explaining the process will help principal or leaders provide enough information for changes and cooperation from the staff will be giving with less questionings.
4. The use of positive approaches
Being open and positive about changes can help eliminate problems after the process have took place. Communication plays a major role in being positive and approaching problems. Being respectful, genuine, and direct when addressing issues can have an impact of the type of responses you receive from your team. People are willing to provide more than usually to situation that is explain in a positive productive way. Creating a positive environment at the beginning can help eliminate problems quickly as they will occur. 5. The use of persuasion This is the last method that should be use when trying to implement changes. Trying to persuade others to make changes without evidence can lead to a disaster and the loss of staff. Principal or leader can persuade staff to make changes by providing detail data that will benefit the change and decrease the ideas of resistance. Either way, without evidence or data that show positive outlook of the change, people will still not be open to persuasion.
