INTRODUCTION:

(OPENING GRABBERS/TRIVIA)
OLD-FASHIONED STYLE

 Vintage is not to be confused with retro, which is another term commonly used to refer to all kinds of
items (not just fashion), usually dating back 20 years or so. Vintage fashion is used to describe items
that existed, were used, and have been saved from a previous era. Retro products are things that have
been made to look as though they existed during a particular decade.
 Vintage fashion refers to items originating after the 1920s.
 When you take into consideration that the average lifespan of an item of clothing is 3 years, wearing
vintage fashion is very environmentally friendly.
 The first item of clothing to be invented was Grecian-style wrap "dresses" that were worn by both men
and women. These were created using the draping technique.
 The second item of clothing to be invented was the skirt, the oldest garment we would recognize as
something people wear today.
 Garments with zips did not exist until the 1930s. Zips were invented and used for some twenty years
before they were used on clothing. In the early 1900s zips were used to fasten up  tobacco pouches and
for closing boots.
 In the late 1930s zips were featured for the first time on clothing, as part of a children's clothing
campaign. Zips were promoted for their ease of use, allowing children to dress themselves with ease.
OLD-FASHIONED COURTSHIP
In some ways, our parents and grandparents had it easier. There was no technology or dating sites/apps to be
found. Instead, people met other people in person. They went to big band dance halls, bars, bowling alleys, roller
skating rinks, and baseball games. They made eye contact. They smiled. They flirted. Sometimes a friend or
coworker would introduce them to someone interesting...because back in the day, it seems lots of people knew
single people who were interesting. Maybe the marriage was even pre-arranged. The only bad thing was, women
often felt the pressure to get married by a certain age lest end up with an old maid. And if things went sour once
they were married, divorce was frowned upon. So many unhappy people stuck it out in unhappy marriages for
their kids and their reputations. But for the most part, at least meeting someone kind and attractive enough to
date seemed like a cinch.
Today? Good grief. I read a couple of sites written by dating coaches and I can never say I feel any better about
dating after reading the comments left by many of my fellow single comrades. Guys don't seem to have it any
easier; earlier tonight I read a comment left by a young man who was very disheartened that the beautiful,
intelligent woman he met on Tinder and made out with vanished on him without a trace.
 What are the five stages of dating? Attraction, Reality, Commitment, Intimacy, and Engagement
1. Learn the art of conversation. Put down that piece of technology and make eye contact with
other people already!
2. Don't even think about dating if you're not actually single and/or your life is screwed up.
3. Remember that you must love yourself first before anyone else can love you.
4. Online dating is not the be-all and do-all.
5. Learn how to dress appropriately.
6. Gentlemen: show some chivalry on a date. Hold the door open for her.
7. Ladies: act like one to get treated like one.

(CHALLENGE THE AUDIENCE)

* Human Bingo
Mechanics:
 Tell the players that they must interview each other. Have each player go around the group and ask
other people to check off one box that applies to them. Names or signatures on multiple boxes
won't count.
 Reinforce that socializing is a must! This entire game is based around getting to know each other,
so encourage chatting and getting to know one another.
