Course Description
This purpose this course is to deepen students command of active vocabulary, expressions and
grammatical structures and their ability to use them to write cohesive and coherent short prose such as
summaries and essays. Active vocabulary acquired by students will be increased by 1000 additional
characters.
Course goals:
The goals of this course are for students to:

 Designed to improve upon students expressions and grammatical structures on the HSK level 4
vocabularies.
 Ability to use them to write cohesive and coherent short prose such as summaries and essays.
Course objectives:
By the end of the course, students should be able to:

 To get use to the HSK level 4 exam format.


 Know the HSK level 4 words structures and patterns .

Course Requirements:
Reading of course material should be done before the class session it is assigned for. Lecturers will not
simply repeat the reading; usually, they will involve illustrating selected points by working through
pieces of data. Come prepared to discuss, with your questions that arise out of the reading.

Requirements of the Lecturer:


The lecturer is expected:
 attend all lectures on schedule and punctually (unless otherwise arranged)
 deliver lectures and/or facilitate discussions on set topics.
 direct students to relevant literature
 give assignments/projects
 grade and provide appropriate feedback on assignments/projects
 provide reasonable assistance to students in matters relating to the course.

Requirements of the Student:


The student is expected:

 attend all lectures and be punctual.


 read at least the assigned readings before class to be able to effectively participate in class
discussion.
 participate actively in class discussions.
 do all assignments/projects and submit them on time.
。 take part in the final examination to be conducted at the end of the semester.

Plagiarism policy
Plagiarism in any form is unacceptable and shall be treated as a serious offence. Appropriate
sanctions, as stipulated in the Plagiarism Policy, will be applied when students are found to have
violated the Plagiarism policy. The policy is available at http://www.ug.edu.gh/aqau/policies-
guidelines. ALL students are expected to familiarize themselves with the contents of the Policy.

Evaluation:
Evaluation will be based on a continued assessment which will constitute 50% and a final end of
semester term paper which will constitute 50%.

75-79 B+ 55-59 D+
70-74 B 50-54 D
65-69 C+ 45-49 E
