Before the French protectorate, the Moroccan system was one of the richest and oldest

educational systems in the World. We can see it through the college Al Quaraouiyine in Fes
which is the oldest school in the World according to the UNESCO, and where some of the
biggest scientists and philosophers were graduated like Averroes = Ibn Rochd.
Before France arrival, kids went to the Koranic School before going to the “madrassa”
dedicated to the best of them. They learnt Coran, the Islamic law and grammar.
