PERFORMING ARTS CENTRE

NCPA, MUMBAI

Selection as a case study:

The centre focuses mainly on performances and had
succeded in becoming a common platform for
performances ranging from small individual shows to
large shows.
My aim to study NCPA was to understand the
context.
Its functioning and to study the different spaces it
involves.
The scale of the project is comparable

NCPA is a cultural building, it lifts the Indian culture Jamshed Bhabha Theatre
in the society through events. Tata theatre
NCPA private sector undertaken by TATA. Experimental theatre

The building has 5 theatres , Administration area[ Little Theatre
Music library, small gallery, guest houses and
apartment for the directors.

NEIGHBOURHOOD

The site can be accessed through 6 gates, the side is

divided into 6 major blocks
Apart from these, within the site there are parking
spaces, ac plants, staff quarters and electric substation.
The site is located in a commercial area
NCPA is surrounded by malls, hotels, offices etc.,
NCPA is 1KM away from church gate station.
