Backstory
• Where was he/she born?
Merry was born in the nursery ward of (one of) the Sarenrae chapel(s) in Ayares.
Born a healthy girl, her mother sustained permanent injuries to her hips no
longer allowing her to work, being contained to housechores and unable to walk
for long distances or stand for extended periods of time. This had put the family
in a more [poverty] status. Her father worked for the sake of both of them, and
both Merry and her mother did the housechores and what they could at home such as
raising chickens to help out.

• Who are their parents? (Are they still alive? Does the character have
siblings? Are they alive?)
Her parents are both alive. Her father works in the docks, and her mother sits at
home, raising chickens and doing housechores. Merry has bought them a nicer home
in the Outer Ring fairly close to her own house so they can visit. Merry is an
only child.

Her mother has a younger sister that lives across the sea. Her father has two
half-brothers of half-elven blood that live up north near the elven kingdoms, so
none of them visit much.

• What was he/she doing BEFORE the adventure started?

In the church of Sarenrae it was discovered at her fourteenth year that Merry’s
singing qualities had magical properties. Her parents scraped together the cash
that they had to send her off to the college located in Ayares itself to be
educated in magic and refine her talent.

Merry was adventuring with her old party and had a good time until they were
hired to kill one of the lieutenants of a Lich. They got ambushed and separated.
The Rogue Archer girl got turned into a cold-steel sandwich pretty quick, the
Fighters got overwhelmed. The fight quickly turned into “make sure Merry
survives, cause she can save us later”. They managed to hold off the undead long
enough for Merry to escape and run as far as she could and return to Ayares,
traumatizing her by seeing her friends die in front of her eyes. This gave her
survivor’s guilt that is triggered by the sheer mention of undead or Liches.
Finally she left the church and has spent a month at home being depressed before
going out again.

Merry wants to recover the corpses of her friends or release their souls if they
have been reanimated.

Easygoing, go-with-the-flow. Very clearly has built emotional walls to not let
anyone in.

• World view?
Quid pro quo. We can help each other, but only if we have something to offer. I
am no longer putting my energy in people that are useless to me.

• Pain points - what would they refuse to engage in? or what would make
them refuse?
Initially about their past. They are adamant about religion being a sham and the
gods being fickle (which is mostly due to pain).

• Desires?
She wants to recover the corpses of her friends or free their souls. Aside from
that she has a love for adventure.

Anything undead related will trigger her PTSD. She dislikes spiders.
