Deployment of L2 Industrial Switches for
Smart City Project
The City of Ahmedabad has emerged as Gujarat's
core city in technological development and
innovation. It has been selected among the top 20
smart cities in India for which it receives funding
from Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) for
projects under its smart city proposal.
Ahmedabad smart city proposal includes several
Pan City and Area Based Development initiatives
with a focus on both infrastructure and ICT
advancements in the city and at strategic
locations. Most of the ICT initiatives have been
identified with a predominant objective to
improve public safety and surveillance, traffic
management, public services quality, emergency
response and real time tracking of services.
Challenge
• Integration of multiple OEM products on D-Link
Outdoor switch to provide seamless
connectivity to IP cameras, IR Sensors, and
outdoor Wi-Fi access points.
• Monitoring of all outdoor switches on third
party NMS tool in Integrated Command and
Control Center.
Solution
• D-Link has understood the need for the
switches and provided outdoor switches for
camera and AP connectivity.
• At each junction approximately 15 number of
IP camera are terminated on D-Link outdoor
switch.
• All switches suggested with PoE+ (30W) power
output on all gigabit ethernet PoE ports.
