First of all, let us express our big gratitude to Allah SWT, our lord, who always gives us his
guidence so that we all can gather here with safe and healthy state. Do not forget to let us
give thanks and prays for our beloved prophet, Muhammad saw.

Secondly, i want to give my big respect for my lecturer and my friend who give me a
honorable chance to stand here.

Today, I will start this by giving you a question. Are we need plastics a lot? Currently, I am
sure that you all agree if plastics are one of the most important thing in our life. If we want to
buy something, for example buying cofee, we need to use cup made from plastic, rights?
Even, when we buy products in a market or store, almost all of the products are covered by
plastic. It is indicate that human life can’t be released with plastic usage.

The problem of plastic usage is exist since a long time ago. It is such a big problem that
always want to be forgotten. Most of us are in a “pretend to sleep” phase. We are using a lot
of plastic and then we throw them without any guilt. Even, sometimes we never care wether it
is the right place to throw the plastic or not. We throw them everywhere we go, in the street,
river, gutter, sea, bech, and many more. Whereas, i believe that most of us are knowing about
bad effect we can obtained if we use a lot of plastics and throw them i

According to a new Allen MacArthur foundation, plastics production has increased

twentyfold since 1964, reaching 311m tonnes in 2014, and it is expected to double again in
the next 20 years. Despite the growing demand, just 5% of plastics are recycled effectivelly,
while 40% end up in landfill and a third in fragile ecosystem such as the world’s ocean. This
report also say that the ocean is expected to contain one tonne of plastic for every three
tonnes of fish by 2025, and by 2050, more plastics than fish in the ocean. The report is very
astonishing and worrying. We will find plastic easier than find fish by 2050.

Even, according to National Geography, there are some shocking facts about plastic usage.
The first is that more than 5 trilion pieces of plastic are already floating in our ocean. It
makes 700 species, including endangered ones, have been reported to be affected of plastic
usage. Marine species in all size, from zooplankton to whales, now eat microplastics, the bits
smaller than one-fifth of an inch across. After all, it will disturb our ecosystem balance. The
second is that arround the world, nearly a million plastics beverage bottles are sold every
minute. It is indicate that we are really greedy man as just throw them all without carrying
with the effect after we do it. The third is that the estimate for how long plastics endurs range
from 450 years to forever. It means that the plastics which we wasted now will still exist until
450 years later in this earth. Is that really amazing?

Those fact is extremely flabbergast. We as human ought to care with our Earth because it is
the only planet we have to live on. If the earth has been broken, then, where will we go?
Allah swt had given us this nature to be guarded not to be destroyed. Eventhough we know
that we can’t stop using plastic, but it is better if we use it wisely. We can keep our planet just
by simple way. First, we can bring our own reusable shopping bag when we go to the market
or store. Second, we can bring our own bottle when we want to buy some drinks. Third, we
avoid the use of plastic strraws when we are drinking. Fourth, we can make some handycraft
made from plastics, such as bag, wall hanging, or chains. Fifth, we avoid snacks with excess
packaging, sixth, choosen metals over plastics. The last, if it is plastic, think twice.

All in all, we have to be concern in this way. We can not just read the article about the
amazing number of plastics usage, then thinking a lot about that, but never do action to solve
it. If we think that we do not need to care with this issue because it is like affluent things, it is
totally wrong. The proof of the plastic usage number is based on the research. It is proven by
the professionals. All of the things i have told you before is not for making you worry or
scare. It is not also for making you think that i am the most carrying man who never use a
plastic bag or the better one who have done many action to decrease the number of plastics
usage. Yet, i am standing here to make us release that we are in a big problem. Worse, the big
problem is coming from ourselves. I want to invite us to care with this earth. Then , let us
think once more, if this earth has been destroyed, where will we go?
