Authentic Problem: How to resolve the negative effects of religious belief to modern society?
Title of the LTOP: The Effect of religious beliefs to the function of modern society

Analyze Contents: Religion is like slow poison; it kills your soul in the same manner that poison does to your
body. There is just one distinction, Religion is a cover for medication, and even though you believe it is for your
good, it is actually killing you. And before you know it, religion has rendered you a lifeless creature. One of the
main causes of fear of mortality is religion. I don't just mean "surviving" when I say "living." Even stones can
survive, but to actually live is something else other. Living entails being perceptive, realizing your potential,
and achieving "higher" levels of consciousness. However, the issue is that fear is the foundation of religion.
Religion is built on the concept of sin, at least when it comes to Christianity and Judaism: All people are born
sinners with impure souls, and if they don't purify themselves, they will soon be sent to hell by God where they
would have to endure eternal pain.
Religion keeps people in the dark. Living implies learning, and life is a never-ending lesson. However, if
you were raised to believe that right and evil are determined by a particular religion's dogma and were told that
doubting the religion you were raised in would land you in hell, it seems sense that you would grow fearful of
learning new things. You give up looking for the truth in order to educate yourself and advance as a person.
Dogmatic theological doctrines are incompatible with knowledge and wisdom. The fact is that religion
condemns individuals who are seeking the light of truth and confines people's minds in the darkness of
ignorance. Religion does this to make individuals oblivious to other types of ideas.
Religion is turning people against each other. Others are simply reflections of who you are, like a mirror
in which you may see your own image. Because of this, if you begin to despise yourself, you will inevitably
begin to despise others as well. When you acknowledge your sinfulness, you begin to perceive the sinfulness of
people around you. You worry that everyone you encounter is out to get you since they are also your terrible,
ill-intentioned adversaries. Additionally, you will not put up with religious philosophies that differ from your
own. This is the cause of religious factions attacking one another. Similar conflicts exist between religious and
non-religious organizations. Adhering to a religious ideology and proclaiming it to be the only source of truth
and guidance can only have terrible consequences.

Create Solutions: As you can see, the negative effects of religion on society are enormous. To blindly follow a
religious or other ideology simply means to restrict your perception, suppress your thoughts and emotions, and
live in hypocrisy — in other words, to live in pain and misery. Many people choose to follow a religious
dogma, even though they’re suffering from this choice, simply because religion frees them from personal
responsibility. Wit this here are my recommendations to alter these negative effects of religion to society:
1. take responsibility for oneself
2. make the right and wise choices
3. establish a Zero Tolerance Policy Against Religious Harassment and Discrimination
