Question:

You are in charge of strategic planning for Grand Casinos. The company wants to open and manage a
casino in rural Iowa. Community residents have asked you and your strategic planning team to attend a
town meeting to discuss the casino. You will need to prepare a description of how your company is
fulfilling its social responsibility. Use the Figure 3.1 as a guide.

Answer:

The casino that we plan to open and manage in rural Iowa to fulfill the social responsibility is particularly
important in the casino industry since many customers associate the casino industry with negative
images such as crime and drugs; therefore, our casinos try to enhance their social image through social
responsibility activities that includes the economic,legal, ethical and philanthropic responsibility that our
company discussing the discription of casino.

Economic responsibilities

First our Grand Casino proponents commonly point to a lower local unemployment rate after a casino is
introduced as evidence that casinos improve local employment. Because the local unemployment rate
dropped after the casino was introduced in rural Iowa. it must be that the casino helped lower the local
unemployment rate.At the most basic level, organizations need to create profit through growths.

Second is Casino tax is a benefit, most tax adjusted casino revenue and use the taxes to fund local
programs. Casino proponents and state and local governments promote casino tax revenue as a benefit.
This revenue is a benefit for the recipients of taxed casino revenue. However, it is important to realize
that this revenue is not new money to society. Taxes result in a transfer of income from one group to
another group in this case, casino owners to local governments and eventually to program recipients.
Our casino also help the various programs such as education and other charities. If a company has any
interest in supporting society over the long term, it must meet these core economic responsibilities to
its shareholders and stakeholders.

Legal responsibilities

Our Grand Casino have a legal duty to protect visitors, and failure can lead to serious injuries. Our
organizations must comply with laws and regulations. These rules are set by governments as part of the
social contract. It’s that simple. It’s important to remember that governments create the markets in
which companies exist. Through taxes, fines, and legal interventions of all sorts, citizens empower their
leaders to govern the context in which our casino conduct busines

In different Casino customers are ideal targets for theft and assault, and it is the casino's responsibility
to provide proper protection for customers. A casino can provide security by monitoring both physical
and electronic activity. Physical security may be provided by security guards on the casino floor and in
the parking lot, while technological security may be provided by video surveillance cameras installed
throughout the casino. If a client is injured through the actions of a third party, a personal injury lawyer
can pursue compensation by showing the casino did not have a sufficient number of guards, working
electronic surveillance, or proper emergency response procedures. Our Casinos have a legal
responsibility to keep the guest safe and secure. A casino that fails to do so must be held accountable

Ethical responsibilities

As a incharge of strategic planning the best thing to do first is in our organization we are going to hire
employees that have the ability to make good ethical decision while on the job. An employee with
proper work ethics normally has the following attributes, they are honest, trustworthy, have integrity
and are loyal to the organization. Being ethically responsible means ensuring a casino engages in fair
business practices across the board including treating all employees, vip customer are ethically respect.
The management show first the ethical behavior to make those moral decisions that will impact the
business, consumers, employees, and the environment. This is where the idea of reputation looms large.
Word of mouth and consumer perception has a huge impact on a company’s bottom line.

Philanthropic responsibilities

Philanthropic responsibility can include things such as funding educational programs, supporting health
initiatives, donating to causes, and supporting community beautification projects that our company
expected to give back. Generous contributions from companies back to the communities that support
them are the baseline.

We need to receprocate or what we called give and take that the everyday citizens just expect well-
heeled companies to pay their fair share. When casino manage well and participate and having a
philanthropic responsibility, We are creating a positive public image for themselves, enhancing
relationships with consumers, and creating a positive work environment.

As an example of philanthropy as I mentioned in the first paragraph, As a reault of having a good


income we are giving money to charity and volunteering, donating canned goods to a food bank to help
needy families in your community or donating things like toys to provide Christmas presents to needy
children and etc.

The economic, legal, ethical, and philanthropic expectations that society has of organizations at any
particular time are referred to as social responsibility. This set of four obligations serves as a basis or
infrastructure for defining, framing, and characterizing the nature of a company's responsibilities to the
society in which it operates. All the responsibilities as simple structure for explaining how and why
casino and also other businesses may and should meet their social duties.
