The world system paradigm looks at the relevance of the globe as a whole rather than
at specific nations. The globe is split into three sections, called the core, periphery, and
semi-periphery. Areas like Western Europe and the United States are considered core
nations. Capitalism is the system that unites many of the contemporary economies
throughout the globe. The Internet serves as both a concrete illustration of network
society and a metaphor for its analysis. The time and space paradigm describes how
the accelerating speed of economic activity causes distances and barriers in space to
dissolve. Transnational exchanges and fluxes are referred to as transnationalism.
These comprise, but are not limited to, the transnational flow of people, ideas,
information, and objects. According to the global culture paradigm, social
relationships are extended and intensified through the worldwide transmission of ideas,
meanings, and values. Consumption of cultures that have been disseminated through
the Internet, popular culture media, and foreign travel is a defining feature of this
process.
