Moses Ojeda, Principal

To Whom It May Concern,

I have been working with Bryana Valverde within the Special Education Department at
Thomas A. Edison Career and Technical High School for the past four years. We have
collaborated when creating lesson plans for our shared students that target both English and
Speech/Language related goals. As a speech language teacher, I provide services for various
students on my caseload within the special education classroom. Over the course of the years, I
have joined several of Bryana’s English Language Arts Self Contained classes. She has been
accommodating and welcoming in each class that I have joined.
Bryana’s knowledge and expertise in English Literature is evident in the way she
executes her lessons. Bryana always engages the students and encourages them to express
themselves by making self to text, text to text, and text to world connections. She reinforces
students' use of strategies so that they can independently break down the text to better
comprehend the reading material. Bryana’s disposition keeps students enthusiastic and eager to
learn. She has taken even the most challenging of texts and created activities that the students
could relate to. Bryana has also offered time throughout the day and after school to provide extra
help for students who may be struggling with the material.
Throughout the years that I have worked with her, Bryana has shown many personal and
professional qualities that make her a wonderful educator. For this reason, I am writing this letter
in full support of her application for tenure.

Sincerely,
Stephanie Restrepo
