Tips for White IQ

This document is a summary of the tips to get

maximum capability of the Iridesse to some
challenging white print. If you are not satisfied
with white quality with default settings, please
carry out all the tips described below in order
properly and see the results.

Before you start Preparations

• Prepare 2 files - available from test jobs folder on Fiery server
2nd xfer CMYKW.pdf
This file has patches with CMYK over
white. The values were tested and chosen
to help with transfer optimization.

SDI_test_page_v1.1.pdf
To test for correct SDI installation

2nd xfer CMYKW.pdf SDI_test_page_v1.1.pdf

• Setup of ADC Sensor(s)

• Paper
Curious Collection SKIN Black provided by antalis is good to use for white dry ink setups.
STEP 1 Automatic Adjustments
• Run Auto Density procedure

• Run Auto 2nd Bias Transfer

Note: 2nd bias transfer setup cannot be automated for white toner. Xerox recommends making
adjustments to transfer voltage manually by running the specific job to be printed to evaluate white
and white + cmyk quality.

STEP 2 Manual Transfer Adjustment and Other Notes

• Adjust 2nd bias transfer manually
It is needs to be set on the stock right before the run. This should be done manually with the job in
question.

Transfer Down : General way you want to go for CMYK on top of white

Transfer Up : Help with image permanence on double-white in certain situations

• Try both sides of the sheet

• Adjust Fuser Temperature

STEP 3 New Calibration Set/Profile
• Run New Calibration Set/Profile
Custom profiling should be done on a neutral colored stock with good transfer or a very light
pastel stock.

During profiling:
White underlay MUST be turned on manually at Job Properties at the Command Work
Station. (CPS still has a glitch with this. It will send the job with the SDIs off even if you had
turned it on.)
It MUST be done as a “Full page” white under. Otherwise the patches for ‘paper white' will
measure the color of the stock vs. SDI white. Skin tones and neutrals will skew.

STEP 4 Density Level

• Increase Max Density
If necessary, increase Max density, should be done in increments, try 1 first, then you need
to Calibrate/Profile.
* If you increase the max density, it should automatically switch off after 10 Power On and
Offs of the IOT.

• Run New Calibration Set/Profile again after changing Density

• After Profiling run Auto Density then Auto Bias Transfer
