1. OBJECTIVE
To lay down a procedure for Electrical Safety in Naufar.
2. SCOPE
This SOP is applicable to General Electrical Safety.
5. STANDARD PRACTICES
5.1.1 Operator of Electrical equipment, tools, components, etc., should read and familiar
with the owner’s manual, manufacturers recommendation and precautions for
electrical safety including maintenance and services.
5.1.2 Always wear / use PPE while working.
5.1.3 Do not disable or bypass safety features such as grounding and interlocking.
5.1.4 Do not overload outlets.
5.1.5 Maintain 3ft clearance in electrical circuit breaker and other electrical equipment to
facilitate access in the event of emergency.
5.1.6 Beware of overhead power lines and other conductors when working on or
operating tall equipment such as ladders, forklift, hoist, etc., or working at height.
5.1.7 For repair and replacement such as fuses, breakers, lighting fixtures, etc., ensure
that the main power is in off position and double check if necessary.
5.1.8 Portable power taps, power strips, etc., should be used solely for low power
application and within the manufacturer guidelines for the devices. Higher power
items such a microwaves, coffeepots, heat guns, etc., should be plugged directly
into a permanent installed power outlets.
