My brother Rafael lives in the USA. He studies at Stanford University. His experience
there is really exciting. He studies a lot. He spends a lot of time in libraries. Sometimes,
Rafael participates in scientific conferences. He reads a lot of books, writes
monographies, prepares group works with other people. The good thing is that this life
style is common for all students. They don’t usually have fun, don’t go out. Sometimes,
they go for a drink on Saturday night, but not every week.
Every morning Rafael goes to the park with his roommate Lee and they run 4
kilometers together. Then, they have breakfast in a small cafeteria near the library. From
10 to 12 they study in the library. They use the internet, paper books and scientific
magazines. The classes start at 13 o ‘clock. There is a break at 15:30 when everybody
has lunch. Rafael usually takes a lunch box with sandwiches and coffee. He eats it in the
internal park. His roommate usually goes to a restaurant because he has more money.
Rafael needs to safe resources because he doesn’t work.
After break, they come back to the classrooms and study till 7pm. Then most of the
students leave, but Rafael has classes from 7 to 9 on Mondays and Wednesdays. He
goes to bed very tired. Sometimes, he doesn’t want to eat dinner. So, it is not easy for
him. But Rafael is happy, because he studies what he likes and also improves his
English.
