What is artificial intelligence AI

Artificial intelligence is the simulation and imitation of human intelligence

in machines that are programmed to think like humans and imitate their

actions such as electronic devices and robots, and this term can also

refer to any machine that displays features associated with the human

mind such as learning and problem solving.

history of artificial intelligence

Artificial intelligence appeared in the 1950s, and the term was used for

the first time during a Dartworth University conference on artificial

intelligence in the summer of 1956.

Since then, innovators and researchers have published nearly 1.6 million

AI-related publications and filed patent applications for nearly 340,000

AI-related innovations.

But the history of artificial intelligence has not always been a smooth

ride. Periods of optimism, success, and growth have been followed by

periods of disappointment, contraction, and regrouping; As the “spring” of

artificial intelligence receded to be replaced by the “winter” of artificial

intelligence, this emerging discipline struggled to find a foothold.

The exponential growth of computing power and communication

technologies has made it possible to collect and share large volumes of

data, thus emerging many new areas for the development of artificial
intelligence technology.

Artificial intelligence applications

Healthcare: Companies are applying machine learning to make better

and faster diagnoses than humans. IBM Watson is one of the most

popular healthcare technologies. Understands natural language and can

respond to questions put to it. The system extracts patient data and other

available data sources to form a hypothesis, which it then presents with a

confidence level. Other AI applications include the use of online virtual

health assistants and chatbots to help patients and healthcare clients

find medical information, schedule appointments, understand the billing

process, and complete other administrative processes.

Education: AI can automate the grading process, giving teachers more

time. It can assess students and adapt to their needs, helping them work

at their own pace. AI teachers can provide additional support to students,

ensuring they stay on track.

Law: The process of discovery—the sifting through of documents—in

law is often stressful for humans. Using AI to help automate labor-

intensive processes in the legal industry saves time and improves

customer service. Law firms use machine learning to describe data and

predict outcomes, computer vision to classify and extract information

from documents and natural language processing to interpret requests

for information.

Industry: The best example here is multitasking and single-tasking

robots. Industrial robots that were once programmed to perform

individual tasks separate from human workers are increasingly

functioning as bots: smaller, multitasking robots that collaborate with

humans and take responsibility for more parts of the work in warehouses,

factory floors and other workspaces.

Sports:Artificial intelligence can analyze big data for sports teams, such

as what happened from the English team Liverpool, to make better

decisions in training, distributing players, or even acquiring new players.

Artificial intelligence can understand the data and understand the

imbalance facing the team.

Speech recognition: Artificial intelligence systems can understand

human speech and convert it into textual content. We find this

technology widely used in searches on search engines and also in the

production of captions in many videos on YouTube.
