What are fad diets? Will they help her?

A fad diet is a diet that becomes popular for a short time, similar to fads in fashion, without
being a standard dietary recommendation, and often making unreasonable claims for fast
weight loss or health improvements. There is no single definition of what is a fad diet. The
term fad diet encompasses a variety of diets with different approaches and evidence bases,
and thus different outcomes, advantages, and disadvantages. Generally, fad diets promise an
assortment of short-term changes requiring little to no effort; attracting the interests of
uneducated consumers about whole-diet, whole-lifestyle changes necessary for sustainable
health benefices. Fad diets are often promoted with exaggerated claims, such as
rapid weight loss of more than 1 kg/week or improving health by "detoxification", or even
dangerous claims, such as highly restrictive and nutritionally unbalanced food choices
leading to malnutrition or eating non-food items like cotton wool.  Highly restrictive fad
diets should be avoided. At best, fad diets may offer novel and engaging ways to reduce
caloric intake, but at worst they may be medically unsuitable to the individual, unsustainable,
or even dangerous. There are range of fad diets including keto, only liquid diets, raw foods
only diet, boiled foods only diet etc. In these times where anything can go viral within
seconds, these trendy diets spread like a disease. In this scenario, I will say that, she should
prefer Dietitian's advice before attempting any fad diet. Our diet has effect on every body
functioning, even PCOS or PCOD can be cured or marred through right or wrong diets
respectively.
