Research is a detailed and careful investigation or inquiry especially through search for new facts

in any branch of knowledge. The word research is composed of two words: re (again) and search
(find) which denote that we take up a field of study again to look for newer information.
According to the American sociologist Earl Robert Babbie, “research is a systematic inquiry to
describe, explain, predict, and control the observed phenomenon. It involves inductive and
deductive methods.” Clifford Woody states that research comprises defining and redefining
problems, formulation of hypothesis; collection, organizing and evaluation of data; and reaching
conclusions.
