Recall the last time you had experienced group work activity with your classmates. Describe
what you did. How was your experience as you engaged with the strategy being
facilitated by your teacher? Was it worth it? Why?

Knowing teacher’s effectiveness is through a classroom’s design. The way a classroom is

laid out and its impact on how well students will comfortably learn. That's why our recent
activity in Field Study 2 is to design a specific part in the classroom based on our own
knowledge and personal philosophy on how an effective classroom should be like. Our
group decided to design the entrance and exit door which will be the front and the first
thing learners will notice before entering the classroom. Our group is consist of five
members, that's why there's a lot of ideas to choose from. At first, it's hard to think a
particular design, but through surveying in an actual classroom and researching, we
gradually come up with an organized and wholesome design. Entrance door should be
creative and encouraging, it should excite the learners attention and instill that there's
more awaiting behind the door. We came up in a mini garden theme and a big standee
of a student who's welcoming everyone to come in. In our exit door is also a mini garden
theme with a student standee that leaves an impression of happily saying goodbye to
everyone in order for students to carry a bright smile while leaving the classroom. This
activity really enhances our prior knowledge, and excite our inner creativity and practice
our teacher-like skills. I should say that it is worth it, because as I saw our output it made
me realize that there's nothing you can't do as a teacher you just need patience, vast
knowledge, and room for new ideas.

group activity. Next, in the MINUSES, identify what went wrong. And lastly, what do you think
are INTERESTING with group activities, specifically, involving cooperative learning? Write your
answers in the appropriate column.

Pluses Minuses Interesting

1. 1. I learn different strategies, techniques and designs that I can effectively use in providing a
decent and safe environment and for creating an ideal learning environments for diverse
groups of students in the future.

2. The best part is we work as a group and it give us the opportunity to engage with variety of
ideas and information, evaluating and solving numerous problems that occurs, as well as
improving our management skills and especially how we assess different options came from
different minds to make decisions about our group's final output.

3. The activity allow us to know the importance of researching, actual or online searching, to
find information about classroom designing and use it effectively. It help us create a strategy in
order to gather facts and so that we can create a wholesome idea.

2. 1. Upon doing the materials and designs needed, our goup encounter scheduling conflicts.
Even we use technology as a platform of communication, it is challenging to schedule a time in
which all members of the group could attend the discussion.

2. Some of our group members feel undervalue, they feel like some of us doesn’t value their
suggestions as much as others’ if their ideas aren’t used as frequently. So because of that,
they participate less in the group and decreased creativity and passion to finish working with
us.

3. In designing a classroom there's a lot to consider, aside from the group's labor there are also
lack in financial and other resources that became the huge hindrance in giving the best output
we could make to the activity.

3. Cooperative learning such as this kind of activity divide the output into equal parts.
Designing the entrance and exit has a long list of steps and thw deadline is short that's why we
distribute the tasks among our group members based on their individual skills and abilities, in
sum it creates a stronger output.

2. As a member of our previous groupings we recognize our own strengths and weaknesses.
This group activity lead us to self-awareness, it help us discover our own leadership qualities,
there is this one member whom I can't imagine that possess leadership skill and artistic skill.
She led the group and teaches us new creative things.

3. During working with our designs there are problems that keeps on occuring, however, our
group also keeps on brainstorming for solutions. I came in realization that when we work
together to address problems or difficulties in that project, the quality of the solutions can
increase due to our collaborative efforts.

What I See? What I Feel? What I Remember?

Go back to the time you had a class (any level) that was most significant for you.
What were the instructional materials used by your teacher that helped you learned the
lesson? What did you feel? What could you remember how your teacher utilized the
instructional materials that made everybody participated in the class? Write your
answers in the appropriate column.

1. When I was in grade 2, my teacher uses a puppet in order for us to

understand the story of "Ang matching at ang pagong". She narrates and monologue
the story using a monkey and a turtle toy.
I can still remember it because when the story introduced to us using a puppet, I
see it as a real friend, we also learn and engage in the story's activities because the
puppet facilitate us.

2. Our teacher gave us the opportunity to talk to the puppet by asking us

questions related to the story and it help me to build confidence, which I enjoyed at the
same time. It also somehow helps in my emotional development, because those
puppets act as a tool for children like me to portray my emotions to teachers when
struggling because that time I just labeled them as my friend. I am not as confident as
other children, I struggle in communication, however, utilising those puppet helps me to
portray my emotions to my teacher because I get extra support through them.

3. I can still remember how my teacher uses the puppet to talk to us, and engage
us to the story as if we are inside the book. She engage us in pretend play with the
puppet. In doing so, we will never be shy to collaborate with class discussion and play
along with the puppets. While this may seem like simple play time, it genuinely help us
to build confidence through our social skills, which can then be translated to real life
social interactions.
