PART 2. EXTEND
Write an essay with the aim of answering the following.
a. What is freedom?
- Freedom is an innate right which humans have since their birth. Freedom is not something that can be
touched, seen, felt or reached. All this gives a vague idea about freedom. What exactly does freedom mean?

Different people have different opinion, definition and thoughts about the idea of freedom. Some talk about
freedom in political sense, some talk about social freedom, some about personal independence and some
define it as religious freedom. But the fact that everyone wants to be free, holds true in all cases. Freedom is
the choice to live one’s life doing what one wants, live where one wants, eat by own choice and learn what
one’s heart desires. This means that freedom can apply to different aspects of life and freedom is not an
absolute term.

b. How is the lack of freedom portrayed in the novel?

- Lacked of freedom is portrayed in the novel of noli me tangere and el filibustersmo through the word that
Rizal wrote about how spaniard want to control us and it was also included in the novel about the slavery of
the spaniard to the Filipino's.

c. How is the situation in the novel different from today?

- The novel depicted actual-existence events for the duration of the Spanish colonization in the Philippines,
Just like the Friars command decisions had been more powerful than the Governor-General’s selections,
social issues, injustice, and the Philippines as a backward country of America, The conflicts inside the novel
exist till these days’ era that it influences our society and the country, That needs to be examined and Noli
Me Tangere, The conflicts that have been dominant inside the novel like corruption, injustice, poverty, and
abuse remain the same trouble as much as this present day, Jose Rizal’s Noli Me Tangere tells us that we
need to reflect on our actions and beliefs for our country, The subject of the unconventional is to
sell nationalism and to simply accept exchange in ourselves and it still applies to us nowadays, Noli Me
Tangere is a unique character that changed into an advisory for the Filipinos to fight against the colonizers
and today's reminder of our records.
