LECTURE:

GENDER, WOMEN, AND INEQUALITY

Gender defines the roles and responsibilities of women, men, girls, and boys. While there
are clear biological differences between boys and girls, these differences do not justify
unequal social status or rights. Based on 2018 World Bank Data, women and girls represent
49.21% of the world’s population.

SUPPORTING GENDER EQUALITY

 If you are a girl, you help empower your female classmates to do the same and fight
for your right to gain access to reproductive health services.
 If you are a woman, you can participate in dialogues with lawmakers in fighting for
equal opportunities.
 If you are a man or a boy, you can work with women and girls to achieve gender
equality and embrace healthy and respectful relationships.
 You can conduct education campaigns to change unfair laws that limit the rights of
women and girls.
