What kind of conflict does Dream face?

he faces both internal and external conflicts
him being without his helm, sandbag ruby
him being trapped for a very long time
he self reflects and gets angry, especially after jessamy died

What if the dream was not trapped?

The guy who was responsible for the museum will stay alive.
if dreams did not get trapped everyone would still dream and get good sleep aside from
all the nightmares becoming free, like that fire nightmare, and the corinthian
world would move in as same because the endless are so powerful

How can a simple ritual trap such a powerful entity for a very long time?
By using the magic book they learned an incantation to capture death but instead,

she escapes to find her love husband because he is dead, the sandman’s sand was
