Revision Record
1 General Description
Adapter 22633 allows to retrofit the gyrosphere container Mod. 10/3 with
mercury-free gyrosphere, type 5000, in existing NAVIGAT X, XII and
X MK 1 gyrocompass systems, originally equipped with gyrosphere
container Mod. 10 or Mod. 10/2 and the gyrosphere type 4911, which
contains mercury.

2 Installation Procedure
2. Loosen the clamp which fastens the rubber bellows to the coupling
plate and pull the bellows off the plate:
3. Remove the four cross-recessed screws which fasten the plate to the
standoffs below it. Remove the plate from the standoffs:

Adapter 22633 004991-0125-001 Rev. B
4. To remove the plate completely, cut an opening from the plate’s rim
to the cable feed-through hole with a fret saw or nibbler tool and pull
out the cable:
5. With a small 4 mm hex key, reach under the square plate inside the
bellows to unscrew and remove the existing four standoffs:
7. Unscrew the hex screws from the standoffs, then unscrew the stand-
offs from the adapter.
8. Mount the new standoffs to the square plate inside the bellow
assembly:

004991-0125-001 Rev. B Adapter 22633
9. Feed the cable through the recess in the adapter and install the
adapter in the rubber bellows. To correctly align the adapter, make
sure that the index hole faces the lip of the bellows:
10. Fasten the adapter to the standoffs with the four cross-recessed
screws and re-fasten the bellow clamp:
11. The installation of the adapter is now complete and the baseplate
may be re-installed in the compass housing. When installing the
new container, push back the cable into the bellows, so that only the
plug protrudes from the plug opening. Do not let the cable form a
loop outside the bellows.
12. The new gyrosphere and container may now be installed according
to the installation instructions 5000-0125-001 (Installation, Mainte-
nance and Service Procedures, Gyrosphere/3 and Gyrosphere Con-
tainer Mod. 10/3).
Note When installing the new container and gyrosphere, it may be found that
the existing cable plug touches the plastic rim of the adapter.
In this case, the small ridge at the side of the plug must be cut off with a
sharp knife.
