CHURCH COMPOUND-DAY
Some few people outside the church. Wedding decorations and
decorated vehicle at the church parking lot.

INT. CHURCH-DAY.
The flower girls passes the ring box to John. He then opens
the box gently and takes one ring which he puts it on Cate.
Then, Cate takes the other ring and puts it on John’s
wedding ring finger.
REV.KINYWAA.
And now, I proclaim you to be
husband and wife.

The crowd claps and yells uncontrollably with joy.

REV.KINYWAA. (cont’d)
You may now kiss the bride.
John holds Cate’s hands and looks straight to her eyes, and
takes a deep breath. He looks kinda scared at this moment,
but he drops his head down a little bit and kisses Cate. At
this moment, Cate wraps her hands around John’s neck. The
crowd at the back claps.
MC.OMONDI TIMON
(He tests the mic first in a
sarcastic way)
1,2. Alright. I hope y’all have
enjoyed and witnesses this
beautiful moment?

THE CROWD
(Shouting and clapping).
Yeees, uuuuuuuuuuureeeeeeee.
The crowd is buzzing at this moment.

MC.OMONDI TIMON
(Smiling)
Okay, now, let’s enjoy the cake and
the meals and thank you for
attending and supporting Mr and Mrs
John.
John and Cate cuts the cake and gives each other a piece.
The crowd claps louder and louder.
The cake is now shared between each person.

INT.ESTHER’S HOUSE-DAY. FLASH BACK

ESTHER BREVI
(Flash back of how he made
John quit the military and
start a family)

There is a knock on the door, Esther is sitting on the couch

watching his favourite Tv show (the downs). She stands up to
get the door. A smile pumps in her face after she checks on
the peep hole of the door and she opens it. There he is,
John Brevi a son with his military uniform. He drops his bag
and hugs a mother with joy.
ESTHER BREVI
Welcome home son.
(She holds her tears back in
but she can’t control it
anymore)
Come in, I have missed you J.
She assists John to get his bag inside the living room.

JOHN BREVI
(With a smile and joy in his
face)
You will never stop watching this
show.

Pointing to the screen.

ESTHER BREVI
(Rubbing off the tears on her
eyes and chin)
You know I love it. What do you
want me to get you, we have a lot
to catch up.
JOHN BREVI
Naah, I’m good, let’s do the catch
up first.
(He smiles and notices her
mother his still not okay)
Wassup mum, is everything okay?
ESTHER BREVI
(Trying to control herself)
I just want to be able to see you
everyday, to see you have a family,
to be close to you.
(She can’t control her tears
anymore and she is crying at
this point)

ESTHER BREVI (cont’d)

But I know you can’t quit this
because it’s all you wanted.
JOHN BREVI
I will consider it mum. Just be
okay and we enjoy this moment.
(Smiling and hugging a mother)
I’ll write my resignation letter
and start plans with Cate for the
marriage. We even talked about it
on the letters we send to each
other while I’m at the camp.
ESTHER BREVI
(Relieved and wiping of her
tears)
Wow, I didn’t know you even thought
about that.
Both smiling and hugging each other.
FADING TO CHURCH SCENE

INT. CHURCH-DAY
ESTHER BREVI
(She takes a little breath and
shouts)
I love you son, congratulations,
I’m proud of you.
John’s hears her mom and starts walking towards her with his
hands open for a hug, suddenly, a mother collapses and hits
the ground really hard even her eye glasses breaks. John
rushes to hold her up. Tension is now all over.
JOHN BREVI
Someone call the ambulance.
(Tears coming off his eyes
uncontrollably)
Please someone call the f*******
ambulance please. Just be okay mum,
for me mum.

John is trying to confirm that her mother is breathing.

INT.WARD ROOM-NIGHT
The pimping sound of the life monitors is heard. John and
Cate are on the bedside of the best where Esther is
admitted.
CATE AUSTIN
She will be okay babe.

Cates holds John’s hands and moves him closer for a hug.
John is sobbing uncontrollably at this point.
CATE AUSTIN
Let’s have hope babe, and we give
the doctors time for the checkup.

They all stand up, John kisses her mother on the chin and
they all move out. At the door they meet the doctor who is
coming to check on Esther.
JOHN BREVI
Hey doctor.
(Rubbing off his tears)
What are the results? I haven’t got
any results since yesterday. I’ve
been told to wait and wait.

John is angry and Cate is trying to calm him down.

1ST DOCTOR
She will be fine don’t worry. She
was diagnosed with leukemia in the
last two years and asked has to
keep it a secret as his colleagues.
She didn’t want you to be worried
about her since the treatment cost
his expensive. I’m sorry John.

John breaks down. Cate tries to hold him up and help him sit
on the hospital bench at the reception. John lays his head
on Cate’s chest and continues to cry uncontrollably. At this
point, Cate is also crying by seeing the pain in his
husband.

INT. JOHN’S LIVING ROOM-DAY

It’s have been three days after Esther got admitted at the
hospital.
John’s friends have visited him to check on him and try to
give a hand in any way they can.

John is at the living room holding his father’s portrait and

he seems to be talking something about his father which is
making all his friends to laugh.
Cate is at the kitchen with one of her friend who is John’s
friend wife. They are making some food stuffs for the
visitors.

INT.JOHN’S KITCHEN-DAY
John walks in the kitchen.
JOHN BREVI
Babe, can you come to the living
room for a sec? Kev and Joy are in
a hurry to pick they children at
school.
CATE AUSTIN
Okay, just a sec. I’ll be there.

Cate, washes and dries a hands off and walks to the living
room.

INT. JOHN’S LIVING ROOM-DAY

JOHN BREVI
Thank you all for the visit. I’m
really glad and happy to have you
around guys.
KEV
Anything for you guys.
(Smiling and hugging his
friend John)
Don’t be stressed J, she will be
fine. She is a strong woman you
know that.
JOHN BREVI
Yeah bruv. I have hope she gonna be
alright bruv.
JOY
(Talking to cate)
Make sure he eats because we all
know him.

They both laugh and embrace each other. Kev and Joy leaves
and John sees them off.
Cate’s friend walks in the living room with hotpots which
she walks and puts them over the dinner table.

The remaining visitors move to the dinner table to have

their meal.

INT.ESTHER’S WARD ROOM-DAY

Esther is on the hospital ward bed. The bimping sound of the
life monitors are heard. John is sitting besides her on the
stool next to the bed while holding her hands.

JOHN BREVI
I just want you to be fine.
(Trying to control his tears)
I know you will be okay. You are
the strongest person I have ever
seen in my life.
(He wipes off his tears)
I will come to check on you
tomorrow. Let me go and clear up
some of the bills so that they can
take care of you here. Can’t wait
to see you open your eyes.
John kisses her mother and walks out of the ward.

INT.HOSPITAL’S RECEPTION-DAY
John walk to the reception.
JOHN BREVI
I’m here to clear some of the
hospital bill for patient 782112
Esther Brevi.
RECEPTIONIST
Just a second please.

She types something on the monitors real quick and prints

out the hospital bill.
RECEPTIONIST (cont’d)
I’ve also printed the amount needed
for her leukemia treatment plus the
total bill now.

(Taking the printed copy)
Thank you. I’ll deposite some
amount and drop by later today.

John Walks out of the hospital.

EXT.COFEE SHOP-DAY
John order for a cup of coffee. He seems to be stressed and
in a deep thoughts. He is holding the printed copy whick
contains the information about her mother’s hospital bill.
The coffee shop waiter brings the order to the table.
WAITER
Welcome sir.
JOHN BREVI
Thank you.
John starts to scroll up his phone looking for some auction
where he can sell his car. He sees a dark web with some
notification that their is a job opportunity for ex marine.
He clicks the link and applies for the job since their is
$1000 upfront for everyone who applies. He immediately gets
a notification for the job interview. He seems surprised
since that was first than expected, but he leaves the money
for the coffee and rushes home to prepare for the interview.
