Advanced Nesting

In the Automatic Nesting menu has benn enabled two new functions:

1) Execute Average Quality Nesting

2) Execute Accurate Nesting

The Average Quality Nesting, is a new nesting mode that execute more trials and
calculation, with a better result that the standard one, but with a major usage of elaboration
time.

The accurate Nesting, execute the a lot of nesting trial and calculation, more than the
Average Quality, giving in the end the best result calculated at all, with the parameters set
by user.
With this option, as shown by the command icon in the menu, will use also a lot more time.

CTRL+ V = Paste CTRL+ indicator keys : duplicate

Result of the Automatic and Manual Nesting

When the Nesting process is over, in the Icon area appears the result of the project elaboration:
in this case the green colour shows the exact quantity given for the minimum one demanded;
this means that the project has been successful, like in the following case.

The result colour:

Green: the placed quantity is the same as the demanded one.

Grey: the process has not input enough quantity because the selected space on which to put it
could be not enough.
Red: the process has input more quantity than the demanded one, which happens only with the
Automatic Nesting operations.

Bevel Type in Libellula

TYPE BEVEL 1.

This bevel cut typology, shown on the Pic.1, allows

the users to make on a single sheet different
works whit a inclined head corresponding to the
thickness of the material.
It is common sense to define this type of external
cutting bevel like: “negative”.

The result will be a solid like the following image:

Libellula 29/56 Rev. 2.5.0

TYPE BEVEL 2.

This bevel cut typology, shown on the Pic.2,

allows the users to make on a single sheet
different works whit a inclined head
corresponding to the thickness of the material.
It is common sense to define this type of external
cutting bevel like: “positive”.

The result will be a solid like the following image:

TYPE BEVEL 3.

This inclined cut typology, shown on the Pic.3.1

(external bevel cut) and 3.2 (internal bevel cut),
allows the users to make on a single sheet
different works whit a inclined cut and straight cut.
This cut type is commonly recognized by the term
“bevel cut with shoulder”.
This cut type allows the bevel on the top of the
sheet.

The result will be a solid like the following image:

Reset Bevel

Feature that reset and turns the angle by cutting

bevel normal.

Bevel in CAD Environment

When an element is set as Bevel one, it is marked with a dashed line.

This line, as a consequence of the type bevel selected,

and its parameters, is automatically placed in the CAD
environment.

This placement is also affected by the option “Dimension

related to the bottom surface”.

If this option is no activated, the visible icon profile will

be the top surface of the piece.

Libellula 32/56 Rev. 2.5.0

Type Bevel 1

Using Type Bevel 1 on all the Icon Elements, and

without the option “Dimension related to the bottom
surface”, the icon profile will be the point where the
machine head will start to cut with the angle previously
set.

The piece in 3D will be:

If the option “Dimension related to the bottom

surface” is active, the Bevel element will be replaced,
because the Icon Profile will be the Bottom Surface, so
the End of the cut. The start of the cut will be the
dashed line.

Type Bevel 2

Using Type Bevel 2 on all the Icon Elements and

without the option “Dimension related to the
bottom surface”, the icon profile will be the point
where the machine head will start to cut with the
angle previously set. In this situation the bottom
surface will be larger, so the angles will be showed
as “TRIM”

The 3D will be this one:

Libellula 33/56 Rev. 2.5.0

If the option “Dimension related to the bottom
surface” is active, the Bevel element will be
replaced, because the Icon Profile will be the Bottom
Surface, so the End of the cut, that will be external
due to the lead-in of the machine.

The 3D will be this one:

Type Bevel 3

Using Type Bevel 3 on all the Icon Elements, the

icon profile will be the point where the machine
head will start to cut the branch, with the angle
previously set, starting from the lead-in point
calculated by the height.
The dashed green line show the point where the
machine starts to cut.
The external profile will be cut to an external
direction, the internal profile will be cut to an
internal direction.

The 3D will be this one:

Libellula 34/56 Rev. 2.5.0

Type Bevel 4

Using Type Bevel 4 on all the Icon Elements, the

icon profile (yellow) will be the point where the
machine head will start to cut the branch with an
angle = 0. The dashed green line show the point
where the machine starts to cut , with the angle
previously set.
The external profile will be cut to an internal
direction, the internal profile will be cut to an
external direction.

The 3D will be this one:

Type Bevel 5

Using Type Bevel 5 on all the Icon Elements the icon

profile (yellow) will be the branch, meanwhile the 2
dashed green lines show where the machine start to
cut in two direction, one external one internal, for the
2 angles previously set, having as result a “K” icon
profile section.

Bevel Technology
In [CUT] Environment, the Bevel functionality is in the Technology section:

Apply a Bevel working on the selected element

When the Bevel command is pressed, and during all the time that it is active waiting for the
entity selection, is possible to see and change the parameter that affect the working and are:

 Head Position in the arriving move to the new cut (low, high, low in the piece)
 Piercing type
 Lead-in Type with its parameters
 Option to do the continuous cut, to avoid a new piercing, doing a cut instead of a move
 Cut direction than could be: By geometry, clockwise, counterclockwise
 Point of cut restart: for the Bevel type 3, 4, 5, it can be chosen that for example the third
cut start from the nearest vertex where is arrived the previous cut, o if it must start from
the same vertex where it started to cut the first.
 In the situation where the restart is from the nearest vertex, it can be chosen the
continuous cut, to avoid in this way a new piercing

The previous parameters, like Piercing and Lead-in, are different from the same parameter in
the normal cut, and are "local" parameters. The option "From Geometry" and "From Tables"
doesn't change the Bevel Technology.
The cutting line to use is specified in the Geometry of the Icon, for each bevel entity specified in
the icon file form, and so is defined when the geometry is drawn.

Libellula 40/56 Rev. 2.5.0

At the activation of the Bevel command, will be available these options:

In the sheet will be shown for each icon the bevel lead-in points with dashed lines, different
from a Non-Bevel icon:

The command search for all the contiguous entities to the selected one, with the same bevel
angle, and works with an unique cut sequence.

If we work on Bevel Type 1 Icons, the only option used will be the first of the three at our
disposal, and it works to choose if the bevel cut between and element and another one must be
done in continuous cut o with a move without cutting.

Movement between elements: Head move.

Movement between elements: Cutting

With the first option, the machine will works like this:

1) Bevel element Cut

2) Turning off torch
3) Move
4) Second element Cut

Libellula 41/56 Rev. 2.5.0

With the second element, the machine will works like this:

1) Bevel element Cut

2) Loop with head in cutting
3) Second Bevel element Cut

With Bevel Element of Type 3, 4, 5, will be active 2 other options, one to choose if the moving
between two entities of the same element it has to be done restarting from the nearest point, or
to maintain the cutting direction and restart from the same side.
The first option, in this situation, will show the movement of the machine between the workings
of contiguous bevel elements if is in cutting or only movement.

Start next cut: from the nearest point

Start next cut: from the same side

With the first option the machine will work in this way:

1) Cut of the Bevel Element

2) Laser off
3) Head movement
4) Positioning to the profile start
5) Cot of the second Bevel Element

With the second option the machine will work in this way:

1) Cut of the Bevel Element

2) Movement with laser On
3) Movement to the end of the
second profile
4) Continuous cut, in the opposite
direction of the first

Libellula 42/56 Rev. 2.5.0

The third option let the user choose if the Bevel Cut between different element of the same
entity (for Example the three elements of a bevel type 5) is done in continuous cut or a
movement with laser off.

Movement with laser on between the

workings of the same bevel Element
(continuous cut)

Movement with laser off between the

workings of the same bevel Element
(not continuous cut)

With the third option “not continuous cut”, the machine will work in this way:

1) First Bevel Element Cut

2) Laser off
3) Movement
4) Positioning at the start of the second element
5) Cut second Bevel element
6) Laser off
7) Movement
8) Positioning at the start of the third profile
9) Third Bevel Element

In this way, will be kept the cut direction for all the Bevel elements, and the movement between
the workings of the same entity will be done in laser off.

With the third option “continuous cut” the machine will work in this way:

1) First Bevel element Cut

2) Movement with laser On
3) Positioning at the end of the second profile
4) Second Bevel Element Cut
5) Movement with Laser On
6) Movement at the beginning of the third profile
7) Third Bevel Element Cut

In this way, the laser will be always on during the movements between the diffferent elemnt of
the same bevel entity.

Libellula 43/56 Rev. 2.5.0

Bevel Working type

1. The first option let the user cut a bevel entity and
all its contiguous entities completely, with
different passages in a Bevel type 5.

2. The second option let the user cut a single Bevel

Element of a Bevel Entity (for example, with a
Bevel type 3 or 4 are needed 2 click, for a Bevel
type 5 are needed 3 click)

3. The third option let the user cut all the no bevel
elements of an Icon (with an angle = 0), as for
example the Branch of Bevel Type 3, 4.

Libellula[SHOP] – Import Bill

In Libellula [SHOP] has been introduced a new functionality called “Import Bill”.
With this function is possible to transform all the icons required in a previously saved nesting,
with their quantity, in orders in Order Management, using these quantities as a “Bill of Material”.

Once clicked on the new button, in the Libellula[SHOP] menu, it can be chosen a previously
saved Nesting.

The window will show:

1) All the Libellula Jobs saved in the Database
2) 3D preview of all the icons of a selected job
3) Tree structure with the Libellula folders on computer
4) Filters on the left side

Libellula 45/56 Rev. 2.5.0

Carrying on with the operation, it will be possible to assign to the icons chosen an Order
Number, a Customer, a delivery date, to create a new order.

After this, will be possible to see and check all the icons of the selected Job, before finishing the
procedure.

The result will be the Order Management with the new orders created.

Libellula 46/56 Rev. 2.5.0

Libellula[CUBE]

In the CAD 3D Menu, has been introduced the new menu SICUBE, for the integration of Libellula
[CAD] with the 3D cut software SICUBE.
The functions at disposal in this menu are divided in 4 main groups:

1 2 3 4

1) General Menu

Set the option for the module 4/5/6 Axis:

- Lenght and spacing for the Normals
- Cutting Lines
- Tube thickness
- Working Path for SI3 files (Cube 3D Models)

Execute the refresh of the normals calculated on the model.

Delete a Cut with all its normals

Libellula 47/56 Rev. 2.5.0

Concept: Normal

A “Normal” in 3D SICUBE environment, is the information for the machine to do a perpendicular

cut to the surface that is in cutting on a 3D figure.

The “lenght” is only a visual setting for the showing of the normals in Libellula [CUBE]
environment.
The “spacing” for a Normali s the maximum distance parameter for the space between two
normals.
The Tube thickness is the technological information of the thickness of the Tube where on in will
be calculated the Normal Calculation.

Concept: Tool

A “Tool” is a tridimensional entity that in the intersection with the pipe sets a cut line.

2) 4 Axis Menu

Calculation of the Normals on the Pipe with the tools intersection

Changes the number of Normals on the edges basing on a value

set in the CUBE Settings (General menu)

Save the 3D model for SICUBE

Detect the cutting lines on a 3D part where there are no tools.

Calculates the Normals on the cutting lines detected on a Sollid

without Tools

Runs in sequence the detection of cutting lines on a 3D part where

there are no tools and the calculation of the Normal to obtain the
external surface to save as a model for SICUBE.

Libellula 48/56 Rev. 2.5.0

Concept: Fixture

In the 3D environment, the “Fixture” is the structure where the 3d Part that will be worked by
SICUBE is put on. This fixtures can be calculated automatically in Libellula[CUBE] as a series of
2D Icons to be cutted and mounted.

3) 5 Axis Menu

Check the accuracy of geometric surfaces that want to be worked,

and set in Green color the correct ones, and in Red the wrong one.
Then it calculates the adjacent to build the finale SICUBE model.

Calculates the Normals on the 3D surface for the creation ofa the
SICUBE model.

Create the structure (fixture) where will be put on the 3D model.

- Settings : Fixture creation parameters

- Cut Fixtures : Prepare the 2D Icons for the 2D cut to
build the fixture, and with the standard Libellula functions is
possible to save it immediately in the 2D Icons Library.

- Save fixture Model: Save the Fixture model with the Normals
calculated on it, to be cutted directly in a 3D cutting machine.

Save the 3D model for SICUBE

Libellula 49/56 Rev. 2.5.0

4) 6 Axis Menu

Calculation of the Normals on the Pipe with the tools intersection

With the thickness set, the angle, move the normals of the
selected cut.

Set the Normals on the Tools

Changes the number of Normals on the edges basing on a value

set in the CUBE Settings (General menu)

Save the 3D model for SICUBE
