FRONT MATTERS/PRELIMINARIES
 
 The Front Matters or Preliminaries are all the sections presented in the initial parts of the research
paper.
 

General Format
 All headings in the front matters should be center-aligned, typewritten in bold uppercase letters in
the uppermost portion of the paper.
 

PARTS OF THE FRONT MATTERS


A. TITLE PAGE
This contains the title of the research, where and to whom the research is presented, what
particular subject it is required, complete name/s of the researcher/s and the date of its
accomplishment
Format
1. Typewrite the title of the research in bold uppercase letters in the uppermost portion of the
paper, center-aligned in inverted triangle shape.
2. The second and third elements should be typewritten in sentence case (except for proper nouns)
in diamond shape, center-aligned
3. Names of the researchers should be completely typewritten (given name, middle name, surname,
name extension) in bold uppercase letters, alphabetically-arranged by given name, center-
aligned.
4. Date of accomplishment must include the month and year it is finished, center-aligned, sentence
case.
5. Spatial distribution of sections in the title page shall be in accordance to the size of a particular
section. This is in consideration to lengthy research titles which may affect the visage of the title
page should there be strict number of spaces between each section.
 

B. APPROVAL SHEET
 This part contains the formal approval or commendation of the research panel during the Final
Oral Defense.
 
Format
1. All paragraphs are indented.
2. As contained in the first paragraph, the title of the research must be typed in bold uppercase
letters between quotation marks.
3. The Approval Sheet must be only appended to the final manuscript after its successful final oral
defense.
