Lab#2 - Taping on Level Ground. Closed Traverse .

SUBMITTED TO: ENGR. LEONI DHEN SALVADOR (AR126 INSTRUCTOR)

SUBMITTED BY: ZYE RHA DIAZ BS ARCHITECTURE 1 -A

Objectives:
1. Locate a polygon. Five sides.
2. Record the distance between main stations by pacing and using steel tape.
3. Calculate the area of the polygon using the method of chain (tape) surveying.
4. Determine the difference in measurements.
5. Turned in the recorded video of instructions #1,2&3 with your solutions in #3&4.

Materials Used:
● Steel Tape
● Alternative Reference Points
Table I.

Note:
● I have 0.66 as my pace factor from Laboratory #1
● Method Used: Multiplied each pace count to the 0.66 pace factor in order to get the distance
in meters and be able to compare it eventually to the steel tape distance that is in units of
meter as well.

Table II.

Guide instructions:

1. Locate the baseline

Answer: Line B-D (6.93 M by pacing & 6.92 M by steel tape )
2. Find the center point of the baseline
Answer: Center point at 3.46 M determined by using steel tape for more accuracy
3. Create Checkline from Point A to Center of Point of B-D, Point B to Center of Point of B-D,
Point C to Center of Point of B-D, Point D to Center of Point of B-D, & Point E to Center of
Point of B-D in order to divide the are inside the pentagon into multiple triangles.
4. Measure all the check lines by pacing and using steel tape in order to determine the side of
the triangles’ dimension and compare their calculated area.

This is how the figure look like at a certain angle
But this is the actual form of the figure given that the measurements were articulately followed.
Unfortunately, I can not take a top view of the whole figure.
