A MODERN FILIPINO HOME

THE PROJECT:

The client commissioned you to design the architectural interior and furniture layout of a 80 sqm,
open plan studio with mezzanine residence.

The property is a 150 sqm lot with a 70 sqm outdoor area with lanai. It is an R3 basic irregular lot,
bounded by a firewall on the left and right side of the structure.

The client is a modern millennial Filipino who runs a corporate business. The client is also an
outdoor and sports enthusiast. Living on his own, it is important to have a clean, efficient space that
is easy to maintain. Keeping a study and office area is essential also. He would like an inviting yet
tranquil home to come home to, and entertain occasional guests. Habagat and Amihan breezes
enter through the front and rear of the house. Privacy and excellent natural ventilation are of most
importance especially when sleeping.

The client wants a floor to ceiling sliding door/window between the interior and the lanai. Sliding
Doors to the pocket garden shall also be installed.

Apply the lessons on Basic Design Elements & Principles, and the Human Factors (Anthropometrics,
Ergonomics, Proxemics, Circulation and Zoning) in your design solution.
