Volcanic Activity case studies.

Use the below case studies as a guide to create and complete your own case study of the St Vincent and
the Grenadines Eruption 2020-2021. You can gather information from social media, news sources and
websites. Suggested resources include TT Weather Centre, NEMO SVG and UWI seismic.

A Good Case study contains the following:

1. A Brief History of the Volcano and the. previous notable eruptions
2. Start date of the current Volcanic Activity and the date of the eruption.
3. Warning signs noted prior to the eruption- include development of lava dome, minor quakes,
venting.
4. Short description of the Volcanic event and the Area affected- Include the Wider Caribbean
5. Response to the event – evacuation, warnings, how people were evacuated,
6. How long the event lasted and if the was an increase in volcanic activity.
7. Associated disaster events due to the eruption _ Earthquakes, Ash fall, mudflows and Lahars.
8. Damage to infrastructure and loss of life
9. End of the Event. Note-Eruption is not yet complete; it is long term sporadic eruption. Describe the
current Activity levels
10. Recovery Efforts and clean-up.

This is a large project so you must work together as a team to complete it on time.

Use this period to work together to come up with a plan on how best to achieve. Some parts can be done
separately however other parts must be done together. You should decide as a team if you would like to
write this as a descriptive event (in paragraph and bullet points) or as a time line or a combination.
Do the research together.
