WALLFLOWER
Shrinking in a corner,
pressed into the wall;
do they know I'm present,
am I here at all?

Is there a written rule book,

that tells you how to be—
all the right things to talk about—
that everyone has but me?

Slowly I am withering—
a flower deprived of sun;
longing to belong to—
somewhere or someone.
~ Lang Leav
REVIEW:

The poem entitled "Wallflower" was written by Lang Leav. It has an atmosphere of
disheartening and struggle. Throughout the entire writing, she talks about a miss who
doesn't fit in with any particular crowd. She used the word wallflower to portray the
person who resides on the sidelines and fades in the background. The poem consists of
different archetypes that perfectly mimicked the character and ambiance of the whole
poem. And I think the author weaves a perfect blend of melancholy, and light-
heartedness, and packages them prettily in a fitting rhyme and form that makes the people
feel connected to the stories she shares through her poetry.

SUMMARY:

A girl who is a wallflower has questioned her own identity. She remains in the side of
any company; left out in the corner, trying it hard to fit in because she is being outcasted.
To her innocence of "whys?" she aches for the arms and place that will hold her together
so she'll stop slipping apart.
