Career Goals

I major in psychology, which is just a stepping stone for my career, and CCBC is a way
for me to reach my career goals. I’m thinking of finishing my Psychology degree at the
University of Maryland Baltimore county. I would like to earn a Master’s in psychology which
means I can venture into any of these fields.: Postsecondary Teacher: Although a Ph.D. is
necessary to teach at the university level, I prefer to teach at a community college or a vocational
school. When or if I get my master's degree in psychology at UMBC it will help me acquire a job
at a nearby community college or vocational school. Human Resources: With the degree, I'm
pursuing, this is another possible job route. The basic cornerstone of this professional aim is to
assist a business in attracting, motivating, and eventually retaining personnel. My knowledge of
psychology will be useful in understanding employee/employer relationships in the workplace.
Counselor: After earning my master’s degree, I'd like to work as a counselor at a community
college. True, most counselors have licenses and are licensed by most states; nonetheless, this is
something to consider in the future. To be honest, I don't want to work in clinical psychology;
nevertheless, assisting others in their educational goals might be incredibly satisfying. Social
Worker: With a Master’s degree in Psychology, this job might be both gratifying and hard.
Understanding family dynamics and the dynamics of the working relationship will be critical in
this profession. Likewise, assisting the less fortunate and guiding them through difficult times
would have a significant influence on today's society. Also, making the world a better place for
children and ensuring that they are well cared for.
