ACTIVITY 2-MODULE 7
Scatter Plot

I. Using the given data, do the following:

a. constructs a scatter plot;
b. determines the direction of the straight line that the data points seem to follow.
c. determines the strength of correlation between the two variables depicted in each scatter plot.

NUMBER 1

X 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
Y 15 20 20 25 32 30 35 22

A. Constructs a scatter plot;

B. The points on the xy coordinate plane seem to follow a straight line that points upward right.

C. The scatter plot indicates that the two variables are linearly related. And the relationship between
the variables is positive. Which means, the scatter plot represents a POSITIVE
CORRELATION.
NUMBER 2

X 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
Y 30 50 55 70 35 40 75 45

A. Constructs a scatter plot;

B. The points on the xy coordinate plane seem not to follow a straight line. The points are neither
downward to the right or upward right.

C. The scatter plot indicates that there is no existing relationship between the variable. Which
means, the scatter plot represents a NO CORRELATION.
