ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT ON CATCH UP PLAN IN MATHEMATICS

I. INTRODUCTION

Mathematics has always been taught from the very beginning of the school level
because it is regarded essential for learner’s analytical and reasoning abilities which are the
key elements for understanding the daily life encounters. However, for the SY 2021-2022,
313 pupils from Grades 1-6 of San Gabriel II Elementary School obtained an average grade
of 75-79 in Mathematics subject. The greatest number of pupils are having difficulty in
dealing with Mathematics since it is an abstract subject.
To address the learning gap, the Department of Education has issued Deped Order
No. 25, 5. 2022 known as the Implementing Guidelines on the Conduct of Remedial and
Advancement Classes During Summer for the K to 12 Basic Education Program, which
primarily centered on identifying learners who are on outmost in need of supportive and
modified learning process and at the same time, lessen these learning gaps encountered by
the students from the previous school year. San Gabriel II Elementary School (SG2ES)
through its school administration, teaching and non-teaching personnel joined together to
implement the said program.
The two-week remediation program focused on helping the learners who are having
difficulty in understanding the mathematics lesson. It aimed to re-teach the lessons from
identified Least Mastered Competency on every grading period.

II. HIGHLIGHTS OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS

In partnership with the Continuous Improvement Program (CIP) Team, the

remediation program was made possible thru Project SIMPLE MATH (Simplified Instructional
Materials for Pupils with Low Engagement in Mathematics). It aims to further improve the
engagement of pupils in Mathematics using the teacher-made Numeracy Workbook. The
lessons included in the workbook are the identified least-mastered competencies.
Through the support and efforts of all the mathematics teachers in each grade, the
2-week remediation program was conducted. All grade level joined force to teach the
modified and simplified instructional materials that would fit the level of the participants
involved. Each grade level provided additional daily activities to learners, considering their
pace in learning, to cope up and master the necessary mathematical skills.
To assess the improvement of learning of the pupils, a pre-test and post-test were
given at the start and at the end of the remediation program. And within the two-week
sessions conducted, pupils have shown improvement and are now ready to their next grade
level.

III. IMPACT OF THE PROGRAM IMPLEMENTED

The two-week remediation program effectively executed its mission of closing the learning
gaps among those struggling learners. It is highly encouraged to continue such programs because it
definitely help the pupils to be ready on their next grade level. Truly success is best when it’s shared,
and we must say that the program has been fruitful and successful.
