All walks of life have been affected by the current COVID –19

Pandemic. The usual human activities have been drastically changed. The

impact of it and its consequences are felt differently depending on our status

as individuals and as members of society. But no matter what how it affects

every one of us, life must continue as the education of Filipino children will

continue as well. The Department of Education (DepEd) is doing really hard

to deliver basic quality education despite the difficulties and hindrances

brought about by the COVID-19 Pandemic.

With the mandate of the Department of Education to provide quality

learning to pupils it is essential indeed that excellent reading skill is achieved.

With this, Cantapoy Elementary School of Malimono District joined the

Reading Month Celebration, from its Kick Off last November 7, 2022 ‘til its

Culmination last November 28, 2022. The program started with a prayer,

singing of the National Anthem, Panunumpa sa Watawat ng Pilipinas,

Division Hymn and Malimono Hymn. This was followed by the Statement of

Purpose and Welcome Address given by Mrs. Ria B. Taripe, the School

English Coordinator.
Then, it was followed by the launching of Galaw Pilipinas, led by the

SPG Officers. It was then followed by a storytelling by our School Reading

Coordinator, Mrs. Nigel V. Cayubit. The children joyfully listened to the

story, answered the motive questions and understand the story as well. The

School Principal Mrs. Marilou A. Becina did the the short talk on the

Importance of reading.

Last November 28, 2022 (Monday). The School Reading Culmination

was held. Different activities were done and children enjoyed the different

contest by grade level. The school activity was supported by the

stakeholders by participating in the celebration. Children enjoyed so much

the activity for they were all involved in the activities and contests.

Some of the activities done by the Cantapoy Elementary School teachers
