ADVANCE ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS

Prerequisite: ELE 127_ Electrical Circuits Theory II, MAT124- Mathematics- II

PURPOSE
The course has been designed to introduce fundamental principles of circuit theory commonly
used in engineering research and science applications. Techniques and principles of electrical
circuit analysis including basic concepts such as basic electric circuit analysis techniques,
resistive circuits, transient and steady-state responses of RLC circuits; circuits with DC and
sinusoidal sources, steady-state power and three-phase balanced systems, and Create linear
mathematical models of electric circuits consisting of power sources and passive components
Introduction to application of Laplace transforms in network analysis, transfer functions, Bode
plots, Fourier transforms applications for solving circuit problems and two-port circuits.

INSTRUCTIONAL OBJECTIVES

Understanding the Energy storage elements; capacitors and inductors; first-order systems;
natural and step responses of first-order electric circuits.

Understanding the Complex exponentials; second-order circuits; natural and step responses of
second-order circuits.

3.

Understanding the Steady-state sinusoidal response; phasor analysis; impedance method for AC
analysis.

4.

Understanding the Frequency response; frequency-selective circuits.

5.

Understanding theSinusoidal steady state power analysis; complex power; power triangles;
power factor correction.

6.

Understanding of and the ability to analyze circuits for the sinusoidal steady-state response and
the understanding of both time-domain and frequency-domain views.
