Community Engagement, Solidarity and Citizenship

"PAGDUYOG"
Pagduyog or "accompaniment," is an event or situation that happens at the same time
as or in connection with another.

An accompaniment to joining organizations is the participation in related activities and

events, such as community service, workshops and meetings.

JOHN FILMORE LAYMA CAROMAYAN

A 17-year-old student taking Humanities and Social
Sciences. He is currently joining 4 organizations. He
believes that joining organizations can be important for a
variety of reasons. It can help individuals connect with
others who share similar interests or goals. Participating
in an organization can also be a way to give back to one's
community or make a positive impact on a cause that one
cares about.

"Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo

(KKDAT) which aimed to organize a youth
movement that encourages and strengthens
the youth's ability in suppressing the illegal
drug and terrorism problem in the
community."

I joined this organization because it can actively participate in efforts to combat

drug abuse and terrorism in my community. This can help make my community a
safer and healthier place to live. The opportunity to gain new skills and
experiences, such as leadership skills, teamwork, and public speaking is also one
of the factors why i joined this organization.

Additionally, I can become a role model for other young people in your community
by promoting healthy and positive behaviors, and encouraging others to do the
same. Finally, I joined KKDAT, because I want to be a part of a community of like-
minded individuals who share a commitment to making a positive impact in the
world.

"The United Pentecostal Church (UPC) Youth

Ministry is a program designed to provide spiritual
guidance and support to young people who are
members of the United Pentecostal Church. The
program aims to help young people grow in their
faith and become active members of the church
community. Activities may include youth services,
Bible studies, retreats, mission trips, and other
events that encourage spiritual growth and
fellowship among young people. The United
Pentecostal Church Youth Ministry also provides
opportunities for leadership development and
service to the community".

As an inborn member of the church. I was raised by my parents with a

trait of "fear of God". As a youth and a Christian, I will use myself to glorify
the Lord with my talents and abilities and help other young people to live
their life with a God and serve God. In the organization, I was appointed
as an "Associate Media Officer in the Church. My duty is to help organize
presentations before, during, and after every service. For example, in
PowerPoint Presentations our Sunday School Teacher, I should be
organized it to avoid any errors before presenting.

CHURCH - MUSIC MINISTRY

"The United Pentecostal Church Music

Ministry is a group of musicians and
singers who lead worship in United
Pentecostal Church (UPC)
congregations. The music typically
includes hymns and gospel songs, often
with a focus on praise and worship. The
music played is usually lively and
upbeat, with a focus on encouraging
participation and engagement from the
congregation. The UPC often emphasizes
the importance of music in worship and
encourages members to use their
musical talents to glorify God."

I have an interest in Music. In our church, we have called "ensemble";

composed of singers (leads and back-ups), and musicians ( bassist,
keyboardist, guitarist, and drummer). I am the lead - sub lead vocalist of
our ministry. Music ministry plays an important role in many churches by
helping to create a worshipful atmosphere, leading congregants in singing
and praising God, and providing an outlet for members to use their
musical talents for the glory of God. It can also serve as a way to connect
with different generations and cultures within the church community and
provide opportunities for fellowship.

"United Pentecostal Church (UPC) Bible

quizzing ministry is a program that encourages
young people in the UPC to study and
memorize scripture. The program typically
focuses on a specific book of the Bible, such as
the book of Romans, and participants are
tested on their knowledge of the text through
a series of questions and answers. The
quizzing can happen in a group or individually.
The quizzing ministry is designed to help young
people develop a deeper understanding of the
Bible, as well as to encourage them to commit
scripture to memory, which can be beneficial
for personal spiritual growth and for sharing
the gospel with others. The quizzing can also
serve as a tool for fellowship and building
relationships within the church community".

I joined Bible Quizzing Ministry last 2019. I am the "sub-player" in our team. Every
team has 3 players plus one for sub-player and each team has a team captain. In
2021, I was appointed to lead as a team captain for Del Monte - Team B for Bible
Quizzing in Youth Leadership Training Seminar. Bible quizzing ministry can be an
important part of a church's youth program as it helps to encourage youth to study
and learn more about the Bible. It can also provide a fun and competitive way for
youth to engage with the Bible and test their knowledge. Additionally, it can foster
a sense of community and camaraderie among the youth, as they work together to
study and prepare for quizzes. Additionally, it can also provide a sense of
accomplishment and pride as they are able to demonstrate their knowledge of the
Bible. Overall, Bible quizzing can help to strengthen the faith of youth and can be a
valuable tool for religious education and spiritual growth.

Joining organizations can be a valuable experience for personal and

professional growth. Being a member of an organization allows one to be part of
a community with shared interests and goals, providing a sense of belonging
and purpose. It also allows one to develop new skills and knowledge, whether it
be through training, workshops, or hands-on experiences. Additionally, being a
member of an organization can also provide opportunities for networking and
building relationships with like-minded individuals.

For the community, organizations can play an important role in addressing and
solving various issues. They can provide resources and support for individuals
and families in need, advocate for various causes, and work to improve the
quality of life in the community. Organizations can also serve as a platform for
community members to come together and work towards a common goal,
fostering a sense of unity and collaboration.

In conclusion, joining organizations can be beneficial for both the individual and
the community. It can provide personal growth opportunities, a sense of
belonging, and networking opportunities. Additionally, organizations can play an
important role in addressing and solving community issues, and fostering a
sense of unity and collaboration. Joining an organization can be a fulfilling and
rewarding experience.

By giving "pagduyog" or accompaniment, organizations and individuals can

show their commitment to the community and to working towards a common
goal. In addition, accompaniment can also involve actively working to empower
community members and helping them to develop the skills and knowledge
needed to lead and drive change in their own community. This can help to
create a sense of ownership and responsibility among community members,
which can be crucial for sustainable community engagement and development.
