Narrative Report on February 8, 2023

2022-2023 Mid-Year Performance Review and Evaluation

On February 8, 2023, the Pasian National High School conducted the third day of
MPRE leaded by the school’s Head Teacher I Ma’am Jenny O. Derano. The said program
started by the singing of the National Anthem and followed by a prayer through an audio-
visual presentation. Ma’am Derano, herself, was the first speaker who thanked us for the
success of Public Schools District Supervisors Association, Inc. Monthly Rolling Conference
held at the premise of PNHS last February 7, 2023. She appreciated the support and effort
we exerted and hopeful that we will continue doing such for years to come. Before she
started her discussion, she let us do some energizers. The first one was a five-minute mood
booster Zumba Dance, and the other was a mind breaking activity she called Care the
Carers which all of us enjoyed and looked into. Her discussion talked about the teacher’s
ability to relate well with their student. She emphasized the important role of teachers in
inculcating the student’s sense of moral responsibility especially on topics that involve
sexuality.

The second speaker was Ma’am Isabel D. Alfaro. Gender and Development was the
topic she deliberately discussed to us. It focused on recent surveys pertaining to the number
of students ages 10 -19 indulge in sexual intercourse. She shared the alarming status of our
young learners involve in premarital sex because of lack of information about it. She
explained that GAD was developed to address this kind of issue and to stop gender
discrimination. Ma’am Alfaro asked teachers to be sensitive and vigilant on this matter that
we should always remind our students about the consequences in engaging sex. That we
should not allow gender discrimination to happen inside the four corners of our classroom.

Ma’am Sheryl Bragat was the third speaker who explained the importance of
integrating sexual education in our lessons. She gave us some examples and scenarios
where we can incorporate sexual education in our teaching strategies. She also gave
emphasis to competencies anchored to the advocacy of GAD that are already present in the
curriculum that must be taught to the learners. The discussion leads us to further understand
the objective of sexual education and the challenges that we teachers must overcome to
meet its goal to develop young people with knowledge, skills, attitudes and values that will
empower them to: realize their health, well-being and dignity; develop respectful social and
sexual relationships; consider how their choices affect their own well-being and that of
others; and understand and ensure the protection of their rights throughout their lives.
