2023 Mid-Year Performance Review and Evaluation

The day 1 of MPRE commence as the master of ceremony in person of Sir Fredjoy
Castillo recognized and welcome the participants. He conditioned our minds first by sharing
his perception on the topic that we are about to discuss. He said that we have to focus and
set aside our personal thoughts because it is time for us to evaluate our performance and
learn new things to improve the way we work. It was then we sang the National Anthem and
performed our invocation with the aid of audio-visual presentation.
Ma’am Jenelyn Judaya was the one who introduced the first speaker, our very own
Head Teacher I Ma’am Jenny O. Derano. Ma’am Derano gave the overview of what really is
the point of having annual Performance Evaluation. She said that the evaluation is not meant
for checking our documents but to ensure that teachers are equipped with skills and
knowledge to bring out the best of our abilities to teach our learners. She said that MPRE is
anchored to the DepED order 42 series of 2017 or the Philippine Professional Standards for
Teachers (PPST) which aims in continuing professional development and advancement of
teachers on the principle of lifelong learning. It is a great opportunity to teachers for career
development and promotion she added. She discussed about the seven domains of PPST
which includes Content Knowledge and Pedagogy, Learning Environment, Diversity of
Learners, Curriculum and Planning, Assessment and Reporting, Community Linkages and
Professional Engagement, and Personal Growth and Development. She explained each
domain and how it affects the educational system in our country. She also tackled the KRA’s
or the Key Result Areas that all educators must consider in their teaching methodologies and
strategies, and that these must be inclined with Mission, Vision and Core Values of the
Department of Education to meet the needs of the learner for their overall development.
Lastly, she reminded us especially the new one’s who is taking the Teacher’s Induction
Program to thoughtfully perform our task because at the end of the day we will reap what we
sow. Before she stepped out from her discussion, she gave us an activity she called SWOT
which means Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats. This activity enabled us to
identify our strengths and weaknesses and how we perceive it either an opportunity or a
threat.
The next speaker was Ma’am Christine A. Teves, the Master Teacher 1 of Pasian
National High School. She introduced to us the Electronic Self- Assessment Tool (e-SAT), a
modification of SAT, which will be used for this year’s evaluation of teacher’s performance.
She explained that e-SAT will be done online and that it consists of five parts and a total of
15 objectives. She deliberately informed us that for this academic year there will be only two
Classroom Observation and shall be done in the third and fourth quarter and by next
academic year there will be four CO and will be conducted every quarter with a proposed 15
additional objectives. Ma’am Christine emphasize that this additional objectives in the self-
assessment tool is not a threat but an opportunity one way for us to know what kind of
intervention we need to grow professionally. All of us pays attention as she gave us the self-
assessment tool sample and guided us on how to use it. It was a very fruitful discussion
which all of us participated and ended up with the creation of our own IPCRF- Development
Plan.
