A NARRATIVE REPORT ON SCHOOL-BASED IN-

SERVICE TRAINING 2020

(Kalabaylabay Integrated School)

In accordance to DepEd’s annual implementation of In-service training,

Kalabaylabay Integrated School held its own school-based training and workshop to

facilitate and enhance the professional and personality development of teachers.

The teaching staffs together with our School Head Ms. Melanie M. Ligutom,

organized an interactive sessions, seminars and workshops regarding Development

of the Weekly Home Learning Plan for Quarter 2, Assessment of the

Implementation of the Contextualized LCP, The Rudiments of Research Writing and

about the School Plan Adjustment.

The In-service training runs for a week, 2 days for Division Wide In-service

training and 3 days for School-based In-service training. The Division Wide In-

service training tackled about the Most Essential Learning Competencies, the

personality development for teachers, writing innovations for research and the

psychosocial support for teachers and learners. It happened through online and the

Division made it sure that all teachers were catered during the webinar sessions.

Aside from the learnings we inculcated during the webinar, we also enjoyed the

games and other door prizes facilitated by the Division personnel.


Looking back to our school-based in-service training, we managed to do face

to face seminar and workshop by following health and safety protocols. The

program started with a prayer led by Ms. Maria Kimberly A. Yabo, followed by the

singing of National Anthem conducted by Ms. Claudine Mae L. Lomongo and an

energizer through the effort of Mrs. Marilou S. Mana. The School Head welcome

everyone warmly on the first day.

On the first day, Mr. Renief Anthony T. Saplot, the master of ceremony,

welcomed our first speaker on that day. Ms. Stella Marie B. Acero, as our first

resource speaker and tackled about the Development of the Weekly Home Learning

Plan entitled “Learning in Better Normal” crafting of weekly home learning plan. She

gave us insights on how to guide our learners in the new normal teaching and shared

her expertise in crafting weekly home learning plan for she’s also one of the

Kindergarten Module writers. Ms. Acero also conducted workshop by guiding us in

crafting weekly home learning plan for quarter 2.

In the afternoon, we had our second speaker, Mr. Lolito D. Bejiga, our second

resource speaker and lectured us about Assessment of the Implementation of the

Contextualized Learning Continuity Plan. The lectured was according to DO No.

31s.2020 “Interim Guidelines for Assessment and Grading in Light of the Basic

Education Learning Continuity Plan”. Mr. Bejiga shared to us his expertise in

assessing the learners through Self-Monitoring Plan by this we could identify the
learners’ need, giving feedback and to improve teaching in a new normal way. He also

tackled about the different kinds of assessment. In this time of pandemic, parents

and teachers must have a solid relationship to be able to provide the learners’

needs. Mr. Bejiga also conducted workshop by giving us insights on what kind of

assessment is good for our learners.

On the second day, the teachers were encouraged to do research writing and

explore a topic that is particularly interesting to us. The Rudiments of Research

writing was introduced to us by our School head Ms. Melanie M. Ligutom in

partnership with Ms. Stella Marie B. Acero. The speakers discussed the

components of action research and shared their expertise in writing a research.

After the discussion, we conducted a workshop in writing a research.

And on the third day of In-service training, our school head together with

Ms. Ma. Luisa C. Akut discussed to us about the School Adjustment Plan or in other

words the School Improvement plan (SIP). SIP is a roadmap that lays down specific

interventions that a school, with the help of the community and other stakeholders,

undertakes within a period of three (3) consecutive school years. We had our

workshop after the discussion.

We also had one-day team building, the purpose of this event is to motivate

us to work together, to develop strengths and encourage collaboration towards our

colleagues. It was also our kind of destressing from work. Our team building was
held at Lohas Airport Hotel, Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental. Mr. Renief Anthony T.

Saplot organized the event and he prepared lots of activities for us to enjoy. To

sum up our team building, we had fun and it enable us to learn from other colleagues

developed new skills.
