SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS

The focus of the study in using worn out vehicle tires as a construction layer for

road construction is to: a) Gain experience using the material. b) Examine the

functionality from the viewpoint of thermal insulation. c) Investigate the best ways to

construct the road's superstructure in order to minimize the effects of the material's

elastic characteristics and low stiffness. The test section's goal is to measure and

evaluate leachate, temperatures, the location of the freezing/thawing front, the rigidity of

the construction, and deformations of the tyre layer. The purpose of the compaction-

compressibility study is to: a) Investigate the impact of compaction work on the

compressibility of tires; b) Assess the outcomes of compression using compression

modulus; and c) Evaluate the laboratory results in comparison to field tests. The

environmental studies seek to: (a) Identify potentially dangerous compounds in tires; (b)

Research the properties of these compounds' laboratory leaching; and (c) Compare the

results of the laboratory leaching with monitoring information from field tests. The

study's primary area of interest is earthworks for application in civil engineering.

The delimitation of this research project is to investigate the application of broken

tires as filler without combining them with other substances like soil or concrete. Since

they are not the main focus of the study and because situations vary from country to

country and are changing, the economic and legislative elements are not covered in

detail. In this study, the term "worn out tires" refers to tire material that has been broken

up into pieces. The literature citations only contain works written in English.
