CONCRETE ACCESSORIES

PART 1 - GENERAL

1.01 RELATED WORK

A. Requirements : Provide general purpose swellable waterstop for insitu concrete,


complete in accordance with the Contract Documents.

B. Related Work Specified Elsewhere

2. Applicables sections under Division 7 - Thermal and Moisture Protection.

1.02 REFERENCES

A. Where the Specifications refer to a specific standard, other authoritative standards


which ensure an equal or higher quality than the standards mentioned will also be
acceptable. It will be incumbent on the Main Contractor to verify the equal or higher
quality and submit comparative standards (both specified and proposed standards) for
review.

1.03 SUBMITTALS

A. Manufacturer’s Data : Submit manufacturer’s specifications and installation


instructions for the capillary type tank waterproofing and other data as may be
requested to show compliance with the Contract Documents. Submit details showing
methods and treatment of cracks on substrates where waterproofing is to be applied
prior to application.

B. Certificates : Submit certification from the manufacturer indicating approval of the


applicator and submit certifications from both the manufacturer and applicator that the
substrate and the details are proper and adequate for the materials being furnished.

1.04 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING

A. Deliver materials as factory packaged, sealed and labeled. Handle and protect as
necessary to prevent damage or deterioration during shipment and handling. Store
materials in a dry location secure from weather and construction operations. Remove
damaged materials from the site and dispose of in accordance with applicable
regulations.

1.05 PROJECT CONDITIONS

A. Environmental Requirements : Do not install materials during inclement weather or


when surface or air temperature is below the minimum recommended by the
manufacturer.

1.07 WARRANTY

A. Warrant waterproofing against leaks for a period of 5 years.

B. Upon notification of such defects, within the warranty period, make the necessary
repairs and replacements including removal and replacement of work superimposed
on the coating system, at the convenience of the Owner.

2.01 MATERIALS

A. Shall consist of swellable waterstops, equal to “Cetco’s Swelltite/EEI” or approved


equivalent; fixing adhesives and attachments which enable sections to be installed
and positively linked into conventional waterstop networks.

B. Components: Provide components such as adhesives, connectors and adaptors in


accordance to manufacturer’s application instructions and used in accordance to the
methods given by the manufacturer’s current data sheet.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.01 INSPECTION

A. Examination : Installer shall examine concrete and conditions under which work is to
be performed and verify that conditions are satisfactory for the installation of the
swellable waterstop. Installer shall notify the Architect, in writing, of circumstances
detrimental to proper completion co work. Do not proceed with work until
unsatisfactory conditions are corrected.

B. Weather Conditions: Installation shall not proceed when work areas are flooded to the
extent that would cause the swellable waterstop to hydrate; nor when precipitation can
be reasonably anticipated before it can be properly installed or protected. Consult with
manufacturer’s representative as necessary to ensure adequate protection of
waterstop.

3.02 INSTALLATION

A. Install the system in accordance with the manufacturer’s instruction, except where
more stringent requirements are shown or specified.

3.04 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL

A. Testing : After curing, test for leaks by filling the water tanks with water. Examine the
leaks and repair and re-test until no leakage is observed.
