If you think about “the happiest place on earth” the first place that comes to mind is Disney

land. The Walt Disney company is a worldwide entertainment company. Their goal is to
entertain, inform and inspire people around the world through the power of storytelling,
creative minds, and innovative technology.
The Walt Disney company, known as Disney, was originally founded on October 16, 1923,
by Walt Disney and his brother Roy. The first film they created was Alice’s wonderland,
after the success of the Alice comedies they introduced mickey mouse to world. The
character is now one of the most famous cartoons in history. And a lot more films after that.
Originally the company operated under different names like the Disney Brothers Cartoon
studio, The Walt Disney Studio and Walt Disney Productions. But after Walt Disney died
Roy decided to name the company after Walt Disney to honor him.

As I said in the beginning Disney is “the happiest places on earth”. It is every child’s dream
to go once in their life to Disneyland. When parents tell their children they are going to
Disneyland they are the happiest kids on earth and have very high expectations. So, it is
important for Disney to hire employees to make this the best experience for the guests. They
need to look which employee or what Disney likes to call them cast members fits which role
the best for example playing Disney characters, watching over security, working in stores,
etc. To do this Disney needs to be aware of the different personalities of the cast members.
Because then Disney knows what the strengths and weaknesses are of the cast members and
therefore what tasks and responsibilities to give them in order to optimize their performance.
So, the challenge that Disney face is to identify the different personalities of the cast
members in order to make the Disney parks really the happiest place on earth. First, I will
give the definition of personality and then I will discuss different ways on how Disney can
identify the different personalities of their cast members.

The definition of personality is the stable patterns of behavior and internal states of mind that
help explain a person behavioral tendency (Monte, 1991). A person’s personality can have a
strong impact on what they choose to do and how they perform at work (George, 1992), in
life (Rode et al., 2008) and academically (Hendriks and Hofstede, 2011).
There are three different ways a person’s personality can be identified: 1) The Big five theory
2) The socio-cognitive approach 3) The humanist approach.
First, I will discuss the big five theory.

As I said in the beginning, Disney is "the happiest place on earth". People of all ages want to
experience that magical feeling in Disneyland. It is a place where you can relive your
childhood, a place where you can escape from reality. One of the primary things to make this
an unforgettable experience for the guest is the staff Disney hires. They need to look at which
role is the best, like playing Disney characters, watching over security, and working in stores.
To do this, Disney needs to be aware of the different personalities of the cast members.

Secondly, I will discuss three ways in which Disney can identify the different personalities of
its cast members. Lastly, I will explain which of these three approaches is the best way to
identify Disney's cast members.

The definition of personality is the stable patterns of behavior and internal states of mind that

I will discuss three ways we can identify a person's personality: 1) The Big five theory 2) The
socio-cognitive approach 3) The humanist approach.
First, I will discuss the big five theory. The Big Five is by far the best-known trait approach
(McCrea and Costa, 1999). The focus of trait approaches is describing a person's personality
by using traits. According to McCrea and Costa (1983), five primary personality traits can
describe a person's personality. These are Extraversion, openness, agreeableness,
conscientiousness, and neuroticism. I will give a summary of the five personality traits.
People who score high on extraversion tend to be sociable, and talkative, while people who
score low are likely to be closed off, loner, and reserved.

The Big Five Aspects Scale contains 100 questions with a 5-point Likert scale for responses.
The most recent version of the test was revised by Peterson et al. (2022)
