I’ll speak about Stylistic value… The structure of this work consists of introduction, one

theoretical and two practical parts, conclusion, bibliography and Annexes. The Purpose of The
Bachelor’s Thesis to find out what stylistic functions phraseological units can perform in
oratorical speeches, analysis and translation into English of the phraseological units from the
work "Memories of my childhood" by I.Creanga and to evaluate the use of complex linguistic
units with a stable nature in speech, such as stylistic devices with phraseological units. In
connection with the goal, it seems necessary to solve the following objectives: 1. To get an idea
of the features of the phraseological unit and clarify the basic concepts of phraseology. 2. To
consider the main classifications of phraseological units. 3. To reveal the notion of stylistic
function and their stratification 4. To identify the concept of stylistic device 5. To consider the
methods used to translate the original phraseological units in English/Romanian and determine
the degree of effectiveness of using these methods in conveying semantic meaning. 6. To
analyze examples of the use of PUs in the texts of oratory speeches and literary work. The
Novelty consists in the fact that for the first time the stylistic value of phraseological units in
I.Creanga's work "Memories of my childhood" was analyzed and the stylistic functions of
phraseological units were analyzed based on oratorical discourses. In the first chapter (theoretical
part), we expose and consider the entire theoretical basis of this study. So what’s PUs? PUs is a
word group with a fixed lexical composition and grammatical structure; its meaning is often
figurative and cannot be deduced from the meanings of the phraseological unit's component
parts. There are a lot of definitions by different linguistics , so we’ll name a few of them : Natalia
Amosova defines PUs …. Gh.Coltun consider that PUs are… Viktor Vinogradov defines….
Ch.Bally’theory consist in that the main feature… PUs are classified differently by linguistic.
Let's take a look at how they're categorized… Stylistics is the study of the distinctive styles
found in particular literary genres and in the works of individual writers. Like any compartment
of linguistics, stylistics can in turn have functions that fulfill them STYLISTIC FUNCTION the
role that language methods play in the transmission of expressive, emotionally evaluative, and
aesthetic information in order to create the desired result. Types of function: the descriptive f ,
the characterological f , the evaluative f , the function of creating imagery. There 4 type of
translation methods for PUs Descriptive translation Literal translation (tracing), The method of
phraseological , equivalent ,The method of phraseological analogue. The second chapter is
practical… here we analyse Stylistic Functions and Ways of Translating Phraseological Units in
Oratorical Speeches. The last chapter is practical… Here is Analysis of Phraseological Units in
“Memory of my Childgood” by I. Creanga. Phraseological stylistics is the study of the use of
complex linguistic units with a stable nature in speech, such as stylistic devices with
phraseological units. Epithet, metaphor, comparison, personification, and other semantic
expressive techniques are included in this category. Conclusion Phraseological unit is a stable
combination of words made up of at least two words in a unitary, phraseological meaning,
derived from semantic transfers to which they were subjected during the historical evolution of
the respective language. We can’t translate phraseological units using just one method of
translation; A high degree of accuracy and precision must be achieved in transmitting ideas from
one language to another A stylistic device may contain a phraseological unit in itself, as epithets,
metaphors, comparison, personifications, etc. As a result of the analysis, the following stylistic
functions were identified for idioms in oratory: the function of creating imagery, evaluative and
descriptive function.
