These interactions are called symbiosis. The impacts of symbiosis can be positive, negative, or

Biodiversity is a term used to describe the enormous variety of life on Earth. It can be used more
specifically to refer to all of the species in one region or ecosystem. Biodiversity refers to every
living thing, including plants, bacteria, animals, and humans.
Biologists have classified the terrestrial portion of the biosphere into biomes which are large
regions such as forests, deserts, grassland which all have distinct climates and certain species
adapted.
Scientists have divided the watery parts of the biosphere into aquatic life zones which contain
ecosystems. There are two different zones which are freshwater life zones (lakes and streams)
and ocean or marine life zones (coral reefs and costal estuaries)
71% of the Earth's surface is salt water and 2% of the earth's surface is freshwater.
