A 2008 platform game called Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts was created by Rare and released for the

Xbox 360
by Microsoft Game Studios (pictured). Nuts & Bolts, which takes place eight years after Banjo-Tooie (2000),
follows Banjo and Kazooie as they battle the witch Gruntilda for control of their home. It keeps the jigsaw
puzzle piece collection progression system from earlier Banjo-Kazooie games, but moves the emphasis from
exploration to vehicle building and manoeuvring. The programmers, under the direction of Gregg Mayles,
included vehicles in an effort to further the platform genre. Despite receiving mixed reviews and backlash from
fans for deviating from the gameplay of Banjo-Kazooie, Nuts & Bolts was a commercial failure. Its emphasis on
player flexibility and construction has been viewed in retrospect as being ahead of its time. It is still the
