1. How is the course aligned to Bicol University's Vision, Mission, Goals and Objective (VMGO)?

Overall, Bicol University's Vision, Mission, Goals and Objective (VMGO) will help every student
prepare for the future. As a Civil Technology Student, these things will mold as not just to be
excellent but also develop character that I believe to be handy in my future work. Bicol
University's Vision, Mission, Goals and Objective is like a guide to us, a pathway for success
and will align us to where we want and suppose to be.

2. In what way Bicol University transforms the lives of every Bicolano? (10 pts)

Bicol University is known as a prestigious university in the Bicol Region that offers a free
education to every Bicolanos. Because of this Bicolanos are now capable of going to a
university that vies for excellence besides values. This university wants all their students to
excel, therefore, these students will become successful and prepared in the future. Students will
become leaders and agents of changes that will surely help transform their community as well
as the country to become be er.

3. What activity can you suggest for your department in the attainment of Bicol University’s
Mission? (10 pts)

I think an activity that is advanced and specialized but also aligned with our course. An activity
that will enhance our understanding that can be used in our future work.

4. How does cultural diversity affect nationalism nowadays? (10 pts)

Nowadays, cultural diversity affects nationalism, since we, the generation Z, are now more
aware and curious about the culture around the world, we don't hide the fact that we are
questioning everything. What we see to others we easily follow or copy. So the culture of others
is now seen all around the world with the help of our technology, especially social media.

5. Differentiate nationalism from patriotism. (10 pts)

When you look up the definition of nationalism, according to the Merriam Webster patriotism is
defined as “love for or devotion to one’s country” while the definition of nationalism is defined as
“loyalty and devotion to a nation.” But the definition of nationalism also includes “exalting one
nation above all others and placing primary emphasis on promotion of its culture and interests
as opposed to those of other nations or supranational groups.” This exclusionary aspect is not
shared by patriotism. These two words are treated as synonyms but there is also a distinction to
the both of them.
