APA format summary

From the samples provided on how to write and cite a paper on APA, I have learned
several key features that are core to competency in APA formatting. Firstly, I have learned that
documents prepared in APA paper have running head in the header section. The running head
represents the essay's title, written in capital letters, while the word running has only ‘R’ in caps.
Another noticeable item is the article's title, which is centred in the paper, and should be a
document summary. The author must include their name and the institution they are attached to.
Author notes can be written or left out. The main body of the paper should start with an abstract,
which needs to be centered, and not indented of its first letter. Abstracts act as a preview of the
entire document where the reader gets the complete information of the paper without reading it
wholly. The other thing I noted in the sample is the placement of essay titles in the middle, not
bolded. Also, I noticed that in-text citation in APA format follows author, year format.
Depending on where it is placed, a year can be in brackets or both author and the year be placed
in brackets. For example, if the intext citation is coming at the beginning of the sentence, the
author will be outside the bracket while the year will be placed in the bracket, According to
Author (2022). At the end of the sentence, both author and year will be placed in the bracket. For
instance, …. (Author, 2022). I have also observed how an author should place different heading
levels and what to consider at each level. Lastly, the paper should include the reference list on its
last page. The reference list should be made up of in-texted sources. Different sources will
follow the different arrangements of the information to be included. Thus, a book will be
different from a web source and journal. All this should be written in Times New Roman, font

A nursing desires
My desire to study nursing developed when I was still a teenager. Having been passionate
about the needy in the community, I wanted to know the course I could take to improve their
wellbeing directly. After interacting with our family nurse, I realized that my long career was in
nursing, where I could care for and advocate for the patient's rights. Also, while a teenager, I
could hear stories about Nightingale and how she helped soldiers. Her passion for soldiers made
me believe that through nursing, my kindness could reach far, not only to my family members.
As Gonzalo (2019) notes, the nurse's relationship can affect the patient's healing process.
Knowing that patient needs a clean environment, care and compassion from those around, I knew
I was destined to care for those who will be left under my care.
