C. From your class notes, textbooks, and class discussions, answer the following:

1. Explain how each player’s role in their position affects the whole team.

Shooting Guard: The shooting guard is responsible for scoring points, usually from
beyond the 3-point line. This allows the team to keep possession of the ball while scoring
three points, and they must be able to create scoring opportunities if nobody else
can.

Small Forward: Small forwards are in charge of both offense and defense.
Because of the numerous offensive moves required for this position, it is crucial
that the candidate can play solid defense; otherwise, the ball may end up in the
hands of the opposing team.

The center's responsibilities include scoring from close to the basket,

blocking shots, and handling rebounds. Centers need to be physical and tough.
They are relied upon for high-percentage shots because of their proximity to the basket.
They must play strong defense and possess excellent rebounding skills to stop the other
team from scoring easily. They are the final line of defense and frequently the team's
best offensive opportunity.

Power Forward: Power forwards must possess excellent rebounding skills as well as
the ability to handle the ball once they have it. Since they frequently aren't the focus of a
defense, power forwards must be able to make easy shots.

Substitutes: Substitutes must pay attention to the game in order to understand their
role, how to carry it out effectively, and not hinder the team if they are selected to do so.

In conclusion, each player must carry out their respective roles properly to ensure that
their team can win. If they fail to do so, it can jeopardize the team's chances of winning,
and they may lose because of their inability to perform well.

2. If your team is down by 12 points at the end of the third quarter, a substitution must be
made. Based on the depth of the team’s bench, who do you think the coach most likely
chose? Explain your answer.

I think the coach most likely chose the shooting guard. By choosing the shooting guard, they
may have a chance of tying. As soon as they get the ball, they can score a 3-pointer and keep
the ball away from the opposing team while scoring from a distance.

3. Who is currently the most notable player on the men’s and women’s U.S. national
basketball teams? Explain your choices in one paragraph each.
The most notable member of the men's US national basketball team, in my opinion, is
Luca Doncic. Even though he may not have the quickest footspeed or the best
athleticism and is barely 23 years old, which just shows he put in a lot of effort to reach
the position he is now in, he is a master at scoring. People say he is a beautiful blend of
LeBron James and James Harden. Even though he is still young, he has achieved a lot
and made himself known.

Chennedy Carter is, in my opinion, the most notable player on the women's US national
basketball team. She is a powerful shooter, averaging 23.2 points and earning herself a
place in the top five nationally. Because of her impressive consistency, a number of
teams designed defenses to stop her. She has scored in double figures in every game
this season and has put up at least 20 points in seven straight games.
