Dear Parents/Carers

Re: Head lice

We currently have a confirmed case of head lice in Year 4. Please can we ask that you all
check your child’s hair tonight, and treat accordingly.

Head lice are common among children, particularly during Primary School, and we recommend
that all parents regularly check their children’s hair, regardless of length. The best prevention to
help stop the spread of lice is for children with long hair to have their hair tied back. We have
also been recommended a tea-tree conditioning hair spray which detangles hair and
discourages the lice.

For further guidance on head lice, please check the NHS Choices website for guidance:
https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/head-lice-and-nits/

Your local pharmacy will also able to offer advice.

Don’t forget to check the whole family whenever lice are identified, and treat as necessary.

Kind Regards

Mr D Seviour
